From Farmhouse To Bohemian: 5 Interior Design Styles Blowing Up On TikTok

Social media, particularly TikTok, significantly influences interior design trends, with a recent analysis by Contractor Growth Network identifying the five most popular styles based on hashtag views over the last 12 months. These trends indicate how digital platforms shape current aesthetic preferences in home decor. Farmhouse style ranks as the most popular, accumulating over 408 million views on TikTok. This style, popularized around 2015 by Chip and Joanna Gaines' show "Fixer Upper," is characterized by comfort, coziness, and traditional elements. Modern farmhouses, a variation of this style, are particularly favored, with the hashtag #modernfarmhouse alone garnering 231 million views. Vintage style secures the second position with more than 288 million views. This trend reflects a growing interest among younger demographics in discovering unique items from vintage shops and swap meets. Key hashtags associated with this style, #vintagedecor and #vintagehome, received 119 million and 111 million views, respectively, highlighting a preference for nostalgic and character-filled pieces. Bohemian (Boho) style is the third most popular, recording over 242 million views on the platform. Known for its warm, colorful, and relaxed aesthetic, often incorporating eclectic elements and numerous plants, Boho resonates strongly with Gen Z and younger millennials. These demographics account for over 190 million, or 78.7%, of the total views for this style, indicating its appeal to a youthful audience. Maximalism, a style that embraces the "more is more" philosophy, holds the fourth spot with over 146 million views. This approach to interior design is highly individualistic and fluid, manifesting in diverse forms such as walls adorned with extensive art collections or spaces filled with kitschy decor and layered rugs. The popularity of maximalism suggests a desire for unique, expressive, and over-the-top interior spaces. Eclectic style is fifth, with posts related to this trend gathering over 145 million views. This style is characterized by a harmonious blend of various eras, styles, and colors, often featuring vibrant contrasts, unusual textures, and diverse patterns. A significant portion of these views, approximately 50%, originated from users aged 16 to 24, indicating its popularity among a younger demographic. The hashtag #eclecticdecor alone accrued 91 million views. Other notable, though less dominant, styles mentioned include "grandmillennial," which revives elements like florals and colorful glassware reminiscent of older generations, and "dopamine decor," which focuses on using color psychology to create uplifting home environments. The article emphasizes that individuals are not confined to a single style and often combine multiple aesthetics, especially among TikTok users who frequently blend similar trends in their home decor choices. #InteriorDesignTrends #TikTokTrends #FarmhouseStyle #VintageDecor #BohemianInteriors #MaximalistDesign #EclecticDecor #SocialMediaInfluence #HomeDecor #InteriorDesignTrends #TikTokTrends #FarmhouseStyle #VintageDecor #BohemianInteriors #MaximalistDesign #EclecticDecor #SocialMediaInfluence #HomeDecor
