OBJECT by lauren manoogian is a capsule collection of artisanal peruvian ceramic forms

Brooklyn-based designer Lauren Manoogian introduces "OBJECT," a capsule collection of artisanal Peruvian ceramic forms. This collection is primarily sourced from a San Martín community in northern Peru, where the tradition of ceramic making is exclusively practiced by women. The initial series of OBJECT features twelve unique, one-off pieces, each meticulously constructed and finished by hand before undergoing a wood-firing process in an open environment. The materials used are entirely natural and locally sourced; native clay is manually extracted from nearby areas, and all pigments are derived from natural sources. A distinctive white dry surface texture is achieved through the application of green banana pulp and copal, a natural tree resin. This finishing technique effectively highlights the intricate underlying structural and decorative textures inherent in each ceramic piece. For forms with a smoother surface, a naturally colored slip is applied and then burnished by hand to create a refined finish. These traditional methods ensure that each piece reflects the rich cultural heritage and skilled craftsmanship of the Peruvian artisans. While these forms are traditionally employed in everyday living within the San Martín community, the non-commercial production methods and the delicate nature of the natural materials used necessitate that the OBJECT collection items are intended for aesthetic display purposes only. This recommendation ensures the preservation of their unique artisanal qualities and prevents potential damage from commercial use. The limited production and specialized techniques contribute to the exclusivity and artistic value of each item in the collection. Further product details and comprehensive information about the OBJECT collection are available on Lauren Manoogian’s official website. This project exemplifies a collaboration that honors traditional craftsmanship and supports local communities, bringing Peruvian artisanal heritage to a broader audience while emphasizing the beauty and unique character of handcrafted ceramics. The collection serves as a testament to the enduring artistry and cultural significance embedded in these traditional Peruvian ceramic forms. #LaurenManoogian #PeruvianCeramics #ArtisanalCrafts #HandmadeObjects #CeramicForms #TraditionalTechniques #CapsuleCollection #HomeDecor #CulturalHeritage #LaurenManoogian #PeruvianCeramics #ArtisanalCrafts #HandmadeObjects #CeramicForms #TraditionalTechniques #CapsuleCollection #HomeDecor #CulturalHeritage
