We Asked Designers for Their Favorite Kitchen Cabinet Paint Colors—and Not One Picked White

This article explores interior designers' preferred kitchen cabinet paint colors, moving beyond the ubiquitous white. It highlights four key color categories that are currently favored by design professionals: beige and wood tones, various shades of green, deep blues, and burgundy. The insights come from several designers, including Julee Ireland, Jennifer Beget, Dorothy McGhee, Lisa Graham, Darlene Molnar, Kerrie Kelly, and Patrice Nichole McCollum. Beige and wood tones are recommended for bringing a sense of nature and warmth into the kitchen. Julee Ireland emphasizes that the right cabinet color should evoke warmth, contrast, and harmony. She suggests Fabuwood's Desert Oak, while for traditional paint, Sherwin-Williams' Accessible Beige is a popular choice. Jennifer Beget used Dunn-Edwards' Drifting for a neutral yet warm feel against white walls, noting its calming and natural aesthetic. Green tones are highlighted for their ability to bring calmness and a connection to nature, aligning with the growing popularity of biophilic design. Dorothy McGhee favors Sherwin-Williams' Rockwood Jade for its warmth and depth in kitchens and built-ins, making a space feel grounded. Lisa Graham recommends Sherwin-Williams' Create, describing it as a versatile and sophisticated muted sage that offers a balance of warmth and tranquility without being overpowering. Deep blues are presented as a flexible and dramatic option for kitchen cabinetry. Darlene Molnar states that blue kitchens are among the most adaptable cabinet choices, comparing their versatility to white. She explains that a classic navy can be styled in preppy coastal or moody urban directions and is a frequently requested color for kitchens. Kerrie Kelly also champions deep blues, citing Fabuwood's Denim Blue as a rich and refined option. Benjamin Moore's Stillwater is another suggested deep blue, which Molnar used to create a summery feel in a beachside kitchen. Burgundy is introduced as a sophisticated and unexpected alternative to more common colors like blue or green. Patrice Nichole McCollum appreciates burgundy for its jewel-tone quality and its ability to complement natural stones and various cabinet door styles. She suggests Sherwin-Williams' Sommelier, especially in a high-gloss finish. Rebecca Plumb also finds deep wine colors romantic and grounding, particularly in dining spaces, and recommends Sherwin-Williams' Deep Maroon. These colors offer unique aesthetic choices for homeowners looking to personalize their kitchen spaces. #KitchenDesign #CabinetColors #InteriorDesignTrends #HomeImprovement #PaintColors #KitchenCabinets #DesignersChoice #ColorPalette #KitchenDesign #CabinetColors #InteriorDesignTrends #HomeImprovement #PaintColors #KitchenCabinets #DesignersChoice #ColorPalette
