Ten bathrooms where marble lines the walls

This lookbook explores various home designs featuring marble and natural stone as the primary material in bathrooms. Marble is presented as a practical and aesthetic choice for bathrooms due to its durability in wet environments, offering a robust alternative to materials like wood or concrete. Many designs showcased here employ a uniform application of marble across multiple surfaces, including sinks, showers, and walls, to create a cohesive visual effect. One example is Note Design Studio's renovation of Habitat 100 in Stockholm, a 1920s apartment. The main bathroom utilizes pale Swedish Ekeberg marble, with some slabs polished and others milled in different directions to form a subtle checkered pattern. Green-toned Brännlyckan marble is used elsewhere in the home, providing a contrasting element. Sheft Farrace's redesign of the Eastern Columbia Loft in Los Angeles incorporates Verde Aver marble, an Italian stone chosen to complement the building's iconic turquoise Art Deco facade. This green marble forms a counter that integrates two basins and extends as a splashback to the ceiling. The Botaniczna Apartment in Poznań, renovated by Agnieszka Owsiany Studio, features warm-toned travertine in its bathroom. While not technically marble, travertine offers a similar patterned finish and is used for the walls, bath surround, and a cuboidal washbasin. The same material extends to the kitchen island. Gisbert Pöppler’s renovation of The Village apartment in Berlin's Mitte district combines wood and highly variegated South American marble in the bathroom. A bathtub set within a marble-lined niche is complemented by wooden flooring and a basin unit crafted from dark oak and white-glazed lava stone. For Flat #6 in São Paulo, Studio MK27 chose grey Armani marble, a Mediterranean stone with dark tones and white accents, for the washrooms. The stone is meticulously arranged to ensure white streaks flow into wall niches for storage. Jake Moulson’s D2 Townhouse in Dublin showcases multi-coloured Brazilian quartzite, Azul Imperial, in an under-stairs toilet, featuring shades of purple, blue, and gold, aligning with the townhouse's eclectic interiors. Pascali Semerdjian Arquitetos' ER Apartment in São Paulo uses various Brazilian stones. White Parana marble lines the walls and floor of the bathroom, forming a base for a custom trough-shaped bronze sink. Jade-coloured onyx panels are also integrated elsewhere in the home. In Twentieth, a Santa Monica home by Woods + Dangaran, Bronze Vena marble, or "bronze vein," is the focal point of the en-suite bathroom. Large-format slabs cover all surfaces of the bath area, toilet, and walk-in shower, with book-matching used to create symmetrical patterns. Messana O'Rorke's design for an apartment on Manhattan's Upper West Side, home to the founders of Malin + Goetz, features Carrera marble combined with brass fittings to create a spa-like atmosphere. One bathroom includes a marble recess with an integrated sink and mirror, while another has a shower illuminated by a hidden ceiling pocket. Finally, Villa Waalre in the Netherlands, designed by Russell Jones, features bathrooms finished in Statuario, a white Italian marble, to match the home's minimal aesthetic. In the main bedroom, a free-standing partition wall creates an en-suite with a marble basin and timber-fronted drawers. #MarbleBathrooms #NaturalStone #InteriorDesign #HomeRenovation #LuxuryBathrooms #Architecture #DesignInspiration #ModernInteriors #StoneCladding #MarbleBathrooms #NaturalStone #InteriorDesign #HomeRenovation #LuxuryBathrooms #Architecture #DesignInspiration #ModernInteriors #StoneCladding
