Talking with Ambriel Floyd Bostic about Cobble Hill, Designing Dreams, and Soaking Tubs

This blog post features an interview with fabric designer Ambriel Floyd Bostic, who resides in a bright and colorful Cobble Hill townhouse with her husband, Hawes Bostic, their four-year-old daughter Haddie, and six-month-old son Bo. The interview, inspired by a Proust-style questionnaire, delves into various aspects of her home, design philosophy, and life in Cobble Hill. Ambriel and Hawes have lived in their current residence for three and a half years, although they purchased it over a year before moving in. When asked about her favorite aspect of her home, Ambriel highlights the abundance of natural light. If she could change one thing, it would be to add a large soaking tub for personal use. Visitors frequently comment on the light-filled rooms and the vibrant colors used in the home's decoration, which aligns with Ambriel's design philosophy. Her design philosophy emphasizes finding beloved items for living spaces, incorporating natural elements, avoiding predictability, experimenting with color, and making well-considered choices to create a welcoming atmosphere. She values possessions made by friends, such as pottery, paintings, and photographs, and finds joy in her daughter's drawings. She also appreciates using handmade plates and bowls for her breakfast, considering it a pleasant start to the day. Ambriel's favorite activities at home include enjoying quiet moments when the house is tidy, without a looming to-do list, allowing her to simply appreciate her family. She also enjoys cooking for her family when there is ample time to savor the experience. Her favorite spot in the house varies with her mood, but she particularly enjoys sitting in the living room with a good cup of coffee. For Ambriel, a house transforms into a home through the presence of life and all its associated elements, including pleasant aromas from the kitchen, art adorning the walls, laughter, plants, and items perceived as beautiful. She deeply appreciates her neighborhood's kid-friendly environment, especially now that she has two children, and the aesthetic appeal of its tree-lined streets. Her only desire for change in the neighborhood would be to have more of her friends living nearby. #AmbrielFloydBostic #CobbleHill #HomeDesign #InteriorDecor #FabricDesigner #FamilyLife #DesignPhilosophy #Brooklyn #AmbrielFloydBostic #CobbleHill #HomeDesign #InteriorDecor #FabricDesigner #FamilyLife #DesignPhilosophy #Brooklyn
