A third project, dubbed the “2-in-1” house, involved transforming two separate semi-detached houses into a single, unified living space. A key aspect of this design was the requirement to maintain the possibility of easily reversing the transformation, allowing the property to revert to two separate homes in the future. Lafferty’s team meticulously designed all systems—including heating, sound, electrics, and mechanical—to function as a unified whole while ensuring they could be readily separated if needed.
