Schweigen's silent Paradigma rangehood gets Good Design honour
Schweigen's silent Paradigma rangehood has been honored with a prestigious Good Design Award during the 2020 Good Design Week, an event celebrating outstanding new products and services in the Australian market for their design and innovation. The award was given in the Domestic Appliances category for Outstanding Product Design and Innovation, recognizing the rangehood's unique features and contribution to modern kitchen design. The Paradigma rangehood is designed to offer luxury and functionality, combining silent extraction, a sleek aesthetic, and integrated lighting. Its key innovation lies in its German-engineered silent Isodrive motor, which is mounted outside the home. This external mounting ensures powerful extraction without the accompanying noise typically associated with rangehoods, transforming the kitchen into a quieter, more enjoyable space. The design allows for flexible configurations and complements various contemporary kitchen styles by maintaining clean design lines and unobstructed views. The rangehood also boasts energy efficiency, reportedly using three times less energy than a standard rangehood. Anthony Fletcher, Director of Sales at Schweigen, highlighted that the Paradigma rangehood enables a more serene kitchen environment where families can gather without the disturbance of appliance noise. He emphasized the benefits of the external Isodrive motor, which provides silent and powerful extraction, integrated lighting, and modular design flexibility, all while being energy efficient. The Good Design Awards Jury commended the Paradigma rangehood for its innovative exterior mounting of the fan and motor, which, combined with ceiling mounting of the extraction unit, creates a silent and unobstructed user experience. The jury further noted that the rangehood sets a new standard in its category due to its aesthetic design, form, silent extraction capabilities, and integrated lighting, solidifying its status as a winning design. Dr. Brandon Gien, CEO of Good Design Australia, commented on the high caliber and record number of entries in 2020, stating that a Good Design Award signifies more than just design excellence. He explained that such awards represent the hard work and dedication poured into creating innovative solutions that ultimately enhance daily life. Dr. Gien concluded by affirming that these recognized projects exemplify the brilliance of design and its potential to improve the world.
