Pendleton Now Makes Shades!
Pendleton, a brand known for its woolen textiles, has collaborated with The Shade Store and Sunbrella to launch a new collection of window coverings. This partnership, announced in February, introduces window treatments inspired by Pendleton's iconic Southwestern and Native American designs, which the company has featured for over 150 years. The collection is produced in the United States, utilizing Pendleton's mills in the Northwest.
The Pendleton by Sunbrella Collection for The Shade Store features various patterns, including the classic Zapotec, Diamond River Tonal, and Ombre Plaid designs. Allen Gant III, Director of Outdoor Market for Sunbrella, emphasized the alignment of the three brands, noting their shared roots in family heritage and a commitment to quality. Ian Gibbs, Co-Founder and Creative Director of The Shade Store, expressed enthusiasm for integrating Pendleton's rich heritage into window treatments, offering versatile options for diverse interior décors.
The collection is accessible through The Shade Store's online platform and in showrooms nationwide. Pendleton, a sixth-generation family-owned business established in 1863, ensures that all products, including these new window treatments, are handcrafted in the United States. The Zapotec pattern, inspired by the 2,000-year weaving tradition of the Zapotec people of Oaxaca, Mexico, showcases classic geometric designs in colors such as Terra, Sapphire, and Adobe.
Another prominent design, Diamond River Tonal, draws inspiration from the American Southwest. This pattern incorporates large-scale, layered geometric motifs that evoke the flowing currents of a deep river, available in shades like Snow, Sand, Midnight, Indigo, and Azure. The Ombre Plaid pattern offers a contemporary take on traditional plaid with a softer gradient effect, reminiscent of mountain mist, and is presented in colors including Linen, Indigo, Gray, and Coral.
This collaboration combines Pendleton's historical design elements with Sunbrella's fabric technology and The Shade Store's expertise in window coverings. The collection aims to provide consumers with durable and stylish options that reflect a blend of traditional craftsmanship and modern functionality. The emphasis on American manufacturing and the distinct aesthetic of the designs are central to the collection's appeal, catering to those seeking unique and high-quality home décor solutions.
