Patten Custom Homes’ Husband/Wife Duo Edge Out the Competition on Design, Detail, And Service
Patten Custom Homes (PCH), founded by Natalie and Feild Patten, has established itself as a leading custom home builder in Dallas, Texas. The company is recognized for its high-quality construction, meticulous attention to detail, and exceptional client service. Over the past seven years, PCH has gained a reputation for efficient project management, transparent communication, and unwavering commitment to its clients, operating with the philosophy of building each custom home as if it were their own.
The journey into custom home building began for Natalie and Feild Patten after they experienced building their first home. Natalie developed a passion for the construction process, from daily site visits to selecting every element of the home. Both lifelong Dallas residents and high school sweethearts, the couple initially engaged in renovation and reconstruction projects, drawing inspiration from shows like *Fixer Upper*, before transitioning to ground-up construction. Their portfolio now spans various architectural styles, including elegant Tudors and modern designs.
A core aspect of PCH's business model is direct client interaction. Natalie and Feild personally manage projects, ensuring clients communicate directly with them, fostering a strong relationship and minimizing miscommunications. This approach, they believe, results in a superior final product. To maintain this level of service, PCH intentionally limits the number of projects they undertake simultaneously, preventing their time from being spread thin.
Patten Custom Homes also offers a "Build + Design" option, integrating Natalie's design services directly into the construction process for an additional fee. This option proves more cost-effective for clients compared to hiring an external interior designer. Natalie assists with all design selections, including paint colors, custom cabinetry, plumbing fixtures, and detailed trim work. Her design preferences include mixed materials for exteriors, such as brick, siding, and natural wood, as well as a strong emphasis on natural light through floor-to-ceiling windows. She values incorporating unique details like beams, steel stair railings, wood ceilings, shiplap, and wallpaper to personalize each home. Natalie also favors brass and matte black plumbing fixtures over traditional chrome.
In addition to residential projects, PCH expanded into the commercial sector with the development of Cedar & Vine, a casual American grill in Lake Highlands. This restaurant, designed and built in collaboration with local friends, was set to open in November 2017. The Pattens aimed for Cedar & Vine to become a community hub, catering to various social needs, from date nights to brunch. The company is also undertaking a significant residential project in Kessler Park, designed by Maestri Studio. This 4,848-square-foot private residence, located at 1522 Eastus, will feature four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and an office on a quarter-acre lot, with completion anticipated in Fall 2018. This project is noted as PCH's most intricate build to date. Feild Patten has personal ties to Kessler Park, having grown up in East Kessler Park.
Patten Custom Homes specializes in ground-up construction across various Dallas Metroplex neighborhoods, including Lakewood, The M Streets, Lake Highlands, Preston Hollow, Richardson, and Kessler Park. The company's commitment to full-service engagement and a clear vision consistently delivers architecturally significant and aesthetically pleasing homes.
