Architype, the panelling like you’ve never seen before
Caccaro introduces Architype, a revolutionary wall panelling system that elevates traditional panelling from a mere decorative element to a versatile design tool. This system reimagines wall coverings as active surfaces that furnish, organize, and illuminate interior spaces with sophistication and practicality. Architype's design incorporates multiple depth levels, creating an engaging interplay of solids and voids that highlights the tactile qualities of its finishes. Integrated insets and dimmable LED light blades produce subtle yet impactful visual effects and vertical lighting accents, transforming the space with elegance. This approach positions the panelling as a fundamental architectural component, capable of accommodating various shelving options.
Two distinct shelving solutions are offered: the Tratto 6 shelf, a slender 6 mm aluminum accessory, features grazing LED lighting that accentuates wall textures, adding depth and visual interest. In contrast, the Mensola 50 shelf is equipped with adjustable spotlights, specifically designed to showcase art objects and personal items, reflecting the unique personality of the inhabitants. Monica Graffeo, Caccaro's Art Director, notes that Architype grants panelling a new architectural significance. It effectively lightens volumes, establishes visual connections between different areas, defines circulation paths, and introduces a quality of light that profoundly enhances the perception of the environment.
The system provides extensive design flexibility through two mounting options: Light and Plus. The Light system is particularly suited for uneven wall surfaces and more compact compositions. The Plus system, featuring wall uprights with three levels of adjustment, facilitates the integration of more dramatic elements such as insets and light blades. For practical maintenance and access, panels are also available in an inspectable version, incorporating magnetic openings or concealed hinges to easily access electrical panels or technical compartments. Architype is meticulously designed to adapt to various wall configurations, including niches, corners, and pillars, converting them into functional and expressive surfaces.
Crucially, Architype is engineered for seamless aesthetic and dimensional continuity with Caccaro’s other flagship systems, Freedhome and Wallover, as well as with Architype doors. This compatibility ensures modularity and boundless design possibilities. It can be directly mounted onto walls or used to clad the back of Freedhome units, effectively transforming them into integrated storage walls. The system also supports Wallover’s suspended elements, bed headboards, and a comprehensive range of Caccaro accessories, including nightstands, sideboards, desk tops, and bookshelves. Each component contributes to a fully customizable wall system, allowing for extensive personalization in terms of materials, finishes, and dimensions.
Architype offers a carefully curated selection of materials to ensure complete customization. Kera highlights the natural veining of stone, while Canneté features an irregular vertical pattern created through engravings of varying depths and angles. Natural wood options celebrate the inherent beauty of open pores, and matte lacquer provides an elegant, velvety finish, ideal for bespoke solutions. The integrated dimmable 3000K LEDs enhance every surface, creating warm and inviting atmospheres. Caccaro first showcased Architype at the Salone del Mobile, where it was presented as an evolution of the No-Wall House concept, representing a contemporary interpretation of domestic space where furniture and architecture fluidly merge. The integration of Freedhome, Wallover, and Architype fosters new design opportunities, leading to continuous, harmonious, and fluid environments that reflect on function, materials, and emotional impact.
