8 Home Design Trends You'll See Everywhere This Summer, From Beverage Stations to French Country Style
This summer, home renovation and design projects are expected to embrace several key trends, according to a report from Houzz based on insights from over 70 million homeowners and professionals. A significant trend involves immersive color schemes, with searches for "color drenching" increasing by 325 percent, indicating a strong preference for using a single hue across walls, trim, and furniture to create a cohesive, mood-setting environment. Both cool tones (up 206 percent) and warm color schemes (up 140 percent) are gaining traction, with homeowners opting for monochromatic palettes or analogous color combinations.
Vintage-inspired rooms are also seeing a resurgence, as homeowners seek authenticity and character. This trend extends to general living areas, with searches for “vintage living rooms” and “vintage kitchens” up by 104 percent and 71 percent, respectively, showcasing a preference for storied and stylish interiors.
Metal accents, particularly gold and copper, are becoming popular. Even kitchen fixtures like "copper kitchen sinks" and "range hoods" are experiencing increased interest, pointing to a glam-meets-industrial aesthetic.
The romantic French country style continues to grow, with searches for "French country bathrooms" up 54 percent and "French country chandeliers" seeing a remarkable 287 percent increase. White oak is particularly favored for storage solutions like kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities, with increases of 46 percent and 20 percent.
For entertaining, dedicated beverage stations are a prominent trend. Searches for "dedicated whiskey bars" are up 82 percent, and "coffee bars" are up 19 percent. Interest in "beverage and wine fridges," "small wet bars," and "beverage bars" also increased, indicating a desire for convenient and aesthetically pleasing options for both social gatherings and personal enjoyment.
