5 Luxurious Southern Bathrooms
This article showcases five luxurious Southern bathrooms, highlighting how these spaces have evolved from purely functional areas into spa-like retreats. It features diverse designs from various interior designers, offering inspiration for redecoration or renovation.
The first featured bathroom, designed by Traci Zeller of Traci Zeller Interiors for a Christopher Phelps-designed home built by Arcadia Custom Homes in Weddington, NC, focuses on creating a serene respite. It incorporates a freestanding tub in an alcove for intimacy, luxurious and low-maintenance Caesarstone countertops, and porcelain tile from the Tile Collection. The design maintains light colors with gray cabinets, accented by pops of green in Roman shades to bring the outdoors inside. Rohl faucets in polished nickel add simple elegance, complemented by elongated custom mirrors that enhance the sense of openness.
Next, Karen Kettler of Karen Kettler Design in Charlotte presents a "Bold Blue Bath" for a Myers Park homeowner who desired an adventurous design with clean, contemporary lines and vibrant colors. This bathroom features striking patterned floor tiles from LiLi Cement (Marina 5), a harmonious paint color, and complementary shower wall tiles from Crossville Tile. The shower also includes Walker Zanger Sixth Avenue Penny shower floors and a Daniella bathtub from Hydro Systems, with fixtures from Jaclo Industries.
The third design transforms a residence in Atlanta's Mandarin Oriental into a home-like retreat, specifically the bathroom, to evoke a zen-like feel. Designed by Jessica Bradley Interiors, this space ensures a continuous sense of luxury, akin to a glamorous hotel stay, with a prominent tub and a sophisticated Circa Lighting fixture.
Charlotte In-Vironments Inc. by Jeanine DeVaney designed the architectural elements for a 1950s Myers Park home, where Traci Zeller again contributed to the interior design, creating a luxurious master suite. The master bathroom prioritizes a quiet, low-maintenance environment with simple finishes. A freestanding tub with a polished nickel floor-mounted faucet from Delta serves as the focal point. Sconces from Hudson Valley Lighting illuminate the space, which also features a built-in bench for quiet moments. The use of durable, easy-to-care-for Crypton fabric addresses the needs of a homeowner with four children.
Finally, Karen Kettler's transitional bathroom in Charlotte's Cotswold neighborhood, part of a larger renovation project with Ali McPhail Interior Design, emphasizes clean, contemporary lines to achieve a modern, warm, and inviting aesthetic. This design incorporates specific tile patterns on the wall by Walker Zanger and on the floor and shower by Crossville Tile. Neutral colors dominate, paired with custom cabinets, Kohler faucets and sinks, Atlas Hardware knobs, and Shadow Storm Marble countertops from Cosmos Granite and Marble, blending traditional and modern elements seamlessly. These examples illustrate various approaches to achieving luxury and comfort in Southern bathroom design.
