Pierce & Ward Redefine Modern Heirlooms With a Vintage-Inspired Collection for West Elm
Designers Louisa Pierce and Emily Ward, known for their unique blend of old-world charm and modern ease in interior design, have collaborated with West Elm to launch a 100-piece vintage-inspired home collection. Their signature style, which emphasizes thoughtfully layered patterns, plush textures, nature-inspired palettes, and handpicked antiques, has earned them a celebrity clientele including Leonardo DiCaprio, Dakota Johnson, Kate Hudson, and Emma Roberts. This collaboration aims to make their distinctive aesthetic accessible to a wider audience, eliminating the need for extensive treasure hunting.
The collection, developed over a year and a half, is designed to feel cohesive, as if all pieces could organically fit within the same home, reflecting the designers' approach to sourcing without a predetermined placement. The range includes stately furniture items such as a burl wood rounded dining table, velvet dining chairs, and an upholstered channel sofa. Smaller decorative pieces like a marble side table and a striped vanity stool are also featured, alongside pattern-rich pillows reminiscent of those sold in their Los Feliz storefront, ensuring options for various tastes and budgets.
Pierce and Ward considered both large and small living spaces during the design process, ensuring that the collection caters to a diverse clientele, from those with expansive homes to individuals living in smaller apartments. This approach addresses the fact that not everyone has the means or necessity to hire an interior designer, offering a comprehensive way to achieve the "Pierce & Ward look" from top to bottom. The pricing for the collection is set to accommodate different budgets, with decor and accent items starting at $29 and larger furniture pieces reaching up to $1,699.
A key focus during the creation of this line was functionality and comfort. Louisa Pierce highlighted the importance of items not only being aesthetically pleasing but also practical for everyday living. Emily Ward expressed admiration for West Elm's commitment to developing unique and fresh finishes that align with their original design principles. The collection showcases a variety of materials, including burl wood for the vanity, walnut for the coat rack, and metal legs for the stool, all chosen to reflect the duo's core beliefs and design philosophy. Among the pieces, Pierce particularly favors the walnut coat rack, appreciating its simple form and sculptural quality.
