8 fiery flame-stitched designs for a fresh look
The flame stitch motif, with its distinctive jagged, zigzag-like patterns resembling a roaring fire, has a rich history dating back to the 16th century. Today, this classic design is undergoing a modern resurgence, offering fresh and imaginative updates that bring both graphic interest and a sense of rhythm to interior spaces. This updated interpretation of bargello-esque styles encompasses a diverse range of materials and applications, from luxurious embroidered velvets to robust outdoor-friendly trims, allowing designers to infuse dynamic energy into various design projects.
Kravet features the "DUVAL EMB FABRIC IN SKY/LAPIS BY BRUNSCHWIG & FILS," an artisan-made fabric available in three colorways, designed to transform a subtle windowscape into a vibrant focal point with its wavy lines. Samuel & Sons offers the "ASPEN IKAT BORDER IN RIVER ROCK," a resilient ikat trim crafted from stain-repellent performance fibers, ensuring durability for demanding environments. Richloom’s "COSTUME FABRIC IN ORCHARD" presents a contemporary take on a classic jacquard, blending brightly colored boucle yarns for a visually balanced and jewel-toned effect.
Zinc Textile, carried by Romo, introduces the "GLORIA FABRIC IN BLUESTONE," a soft velvet named after Gloria Vanderbilt, characterized by its patchwork of embroidered stepped motifs. Another offering from Kravet, the "DU SON EMB FABRIC IN GRANITE BY BRUNSCHWIG & FILS," is an undulating upholstery option suitable for accent pillows to add drama to a sofa or as window treatments to enliven a living room. Sunbrella provides the "VALLEY FABRIC IN SUNRISE," a water-resistant, made-to-order fabric designed to energize outdoor settings, such as poolside arrangements.
Samuel & Sons also presents the "TERRACE OMBRÉ BORDER IN LEAF," a hand-stitched trim that, despite its intricate appearance, is robust enough for outdoor use due to its construction with Perennials performance fibers. Élitis’s "GROOVY FABRIC IN DÉBORDER D’ÉNERGIE" draws inspiration from marbled paper, featuring vibrant polychromatic patterns with a shimmering finish created by shiny threads. Each of these featured products, sourced from the "Collections" vertical of BOH, represents the latest innovations from leading brands in the industry, showcasing how historical motifs are being reinvented for contemporary home design.
