Hong Kong couple swap urban living for rural retreat

After living in Central, Hong Kong, for seven years, entrepreneur Tania Reinert and her husband, Alexandre, decided to move to Cheung Sha on Lantau Island. Alexandre, who frequently cycled on Lantau, suggested the move, and Tania, initially hesitant, became intrigued. The couple owned an apartment on Hong Kong Island and decided to test the market for renting it out. Within a week, the apartment was leased, prompting a rapid relocation. The search for a new home on Lantau led Tania to a 1,650 sq ft, two-storey, three-bedroom house in Cheung Sha with a roof terrace. The lease was signed quickly, and the entire move was completed within two weeks in June. A standout feature of their new residence was the expansive window in the living room, offering a view of dense forest. This immediate connection to nature was a significant draw for the couple, marking a stark contrast to their previous urban environment in Central. The relocation was driven by a desire for a different lifestyle, moving from the bustling city center to a more tranquil, green setting. The decision highlights a growing trend among some urban dwellers seeking rural retreats to escape the intensity of city life. The quick transition from considering the move to actually settling into their new home underscores the couple's readiness for a significant change in their living environment. Their new home in Cheung Sha provides a substantial increase in living space compared to typical urban apartments in Hong Kong, offering three bedrooms and a roof terrace. The shift to Lantau also brings them closer to nature, with the large living room window framing a forest view that became an immediate focal point and a source of delight. This change represents a deliberate choice to prioritize space, greenery, and a more relaxed pace of life over the conveniences of city living. #HongKongInteriorDesign #LantauLiving #RuralRetreat #CheungShaHome #UrbanToRural #HongKongRealEstate #HomeRelocation #InteriorDesign #FamilyHome #HongKongInteriorDesign #LantauLiving #RuralRetreat #CheungShaHome #UrbanToRural #HongKongRealEstate #HomeRelocation #InteriorDesign #FamilyHome
