Colorful Wood Grain Furniture by Wrong Woods
The collaboration between artist Richard Woods and designer Sebastian Wrong continues to produce distinctive furniture pieces, characterized by exaggerated and colorful wood grain patterns. Their latest offerings, the Bent Wood Tables and Logo Chairs, are limited editions created for Galerie VIVID, each featuring Woods' unique hand-printed, wood block patterns. These designs showcase a playful, almost cartoon-like aesthetic that defines their collaborative work.
The Bent Wood Tables draw inspiration from the traditional process of steam bending wood. They are composed of stacked rings, each adorned with the signature wood grain pattern, layered to form the table's structure. The rings themselves are crafted by skilled artisans in northern Italy, employing time-honored steam and compression techniques to achieve the wood's curled form. These tables are available as a Galerie VIVID Edition, limited to 8 pieces plus 2 artist proofs, and come in four color options and two sizes. They are constructed from hand-printed ash wood and incorporate colored glass elements, reflecting a meticulous approach to material and finish.
Complementing the tables, the Logo Chairs are fashioned from ash wood, similarly hand-printed with acrylic paint to carry the duo's distinctive wood grain motif. These chairs are presented in four color variations, each belonging to a limited edition for Galerie VIVID, individually numbered and signed to denote their exclusivity and origin. The use of hand-printing ensures that each piece possesses a unique artistic touch, further emphasizing the blend of art and design central to Woods and Wrong's collaboration. The collection, featuring both tables and chairs, demonstrates a consistent aesthetic that is both bold and whimsical.
The partnership between Woods and Wrong has consistently explored the boundary between art and functional design, imbuing everyday furniture with an unconventional and vibrant character. Their work challenges traditional perceptions of wood furniture by introducing vivid colors and exaggerated patterns, transforming natural textures into graphic statements. The pieces are not merely utilitarian but serve as artistic expressions that command attention and bring a sense of playful modernity to any space. This continued exploration of material, technique, and visual language positions their output as notable within contemporary design. The limited edition nature of these pieces further underscores their value as collectible items that embody a distinct design philosophy.
