Nautical Design Meets Fast Casual Dining in Texas
Studio 11 Design recently completed the interior design for the new East Hampton Sandwich Co. outpost in Southlake, Texas, aiming to create an atmosphere that blends upscale sophistication with a relaxed, Hamptons-inspired nautical aesthetic. The design elements were carefully selected to evoke the feeling of a home in the Hamptons, bringing a distinctive coastal vibe to the fast-casual dining experience. This project specifically focused on the Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment (FF&E) to achieve its desired ambiance.
One of the primary design features is the incorporation of vintage artwork and objects. This includes framed maps depicting the East Coast, which add a sense of place and history to the space. Additionally, antique rowing oar installations contribute to a residential and authentic nautical feel. These wooden oars were sourced locally by Studio 11 Design and the client from an antique market, a practice intended to be continued for future East Hampton Sandwich Co. locations to maintain a consistent artistic direction.
The chosen color palette strongly reinforces the nautical theme. The fast-casual eatery features vibrant red bar stools that contrast with a solid oyster-white counter, creating a focal point. The main dining area is furnished with taupe banquettes, offering comfortable seating, set against gentle blue, shiplap-paneled walls. This combination of colors and textures creates a serene and inviting coastal environment.
Lighting plays a crucial role in the design, with an emphasis on bright, natural illumination. Large, floor-to-ceiling windows allow abundant natural light to flood the interior, contributing to an open and airy feel. To complement the natural light and provide ambient illumination, pendants are suspended from a dropped ceiling. These pendants are encased in delicate wooden structures, adding a refined touch to the rustic elements. The dropped ceiling design also serves a practical purpose by softening the acoustics within the space, which could otherwise be affected by the concrete floors and the lofty, exposed ceiling, ensuring a more comfortable dining experience.
