Discover the Kaleido™ Color Lab by Armstrong Flooring

The Son Blanc Inn, a 17th-century farmhouse located in Menorca, Spain, has been meticulously restored and transformed into a serene retreat. The project, led by Atelier du Pont, a Paris-based architecture and interior design firm, focused on preserving the historical essence of the building while integrating modern amenities and sustainable practices. The farmhouse, originally a large agricultural estate, now functions as a boutique hotel offering guests a tranquil escape with a strong connection to its natural surroundings. The restoration process prioritized the use of local materials and traditional Menorcan construction techniques. Existing stone walls, wooden beams, and vaulted ceilings were carefully preserved and exposed, showcasing the building's original character. New additions and structural reinforcements were seamlessly integrated, utilizing materials such as local limestone, recycled wood, and terracotta tiles. This approach not only maintains the aesthetic integrity of the farmhouse but also minimizes environmental impact. The interior design emphasizes a minimalist yet warm aesthetic. Rooms are furnished with bespoke pieces crafted from natural materials, including oak, linen, and local ceramics. The color palette is predominantly neutral, featuring earthy tones and soft whites that complement the stone and wood elements. Large windows and strategically placed openings maximize natural light and offer expansive views of the surrounding landscape, blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor spaces. Sustainability is a core principle of the Son Blanc Inn. The property incorporates advanced systems for water recycling, solar energy generation, and efficient climate control. Organic gardens provide fresh produce for the hotel's kitchen, promoting a farm-to-table dining experience. The design also includes natural ventilation strategies and shading elements to reduce energy consumption, ensuring a comfortable environment year-round with minimal reliance on artificial heating and cooling. The inn offers a range of spaces designed for relaxation and well-being. These include a yoga studio with exposed wooden beams, a natural swimming pool, and various communal areas for guests to gather and unwind. The landscaping around the farmhouse features native Menorcan plants, creating a harmonious transition from the built environment to the natural ecosystem. The overall design fosters a sense of peace and reconnection with nature, aligning with the growing trend of sustainable tourism and experiential travel. The project demonstrates a successful balance between historical preservation, contemporary design, and ecological responsibility. #HistoricPreservation #FarmhouseRenovation #SustainableDesign #BoutiqueHotel #MenorcaArchitecture #InteriorDesign #LocalMaterials #AtelierDuPont #HistoricPreservation #FarmhouseRenovation #SustainableDesign #BoutiqueHotel #MenorcaArchitecture #InteriorDesign #LocalMaterials #AtelierDuPont
