Kelly Wearstler Creates a California-Inspired Paint Palette for Farrow & Ball

British paint brand Farrow & Ball, celebrating its 75th year, collaborated with Los Angeles-based designer Kelly Wearstler to create "The California Collection," a paint palette of eight unique colors. This marks Farrow & Ball's first collaboration with an outside designer. Wearstler, a long-time user of Farrow & Ball paints in her interior design projects, expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating her belief that "living without color is like living without love." The collection draws inspiration from various elements of California's landscape and atmosphere, reflecting Wearstler's personal connection to her home state. The eight colors in the collection are Citrona, Faded Terracotta, Hazy, Palm, Salt, Sand, Stoke, and Tar. Citrona is described as a softened citrus shade, reminiscent of California's lemon trees. Faded Terracotta is an easygoing shade that evokes the warm, sunbaked terracotta pots and tiles commonly found in California. Hazy is a muted blue-grey, inspired by the morning marine layer and fog that drifts inland from the Pacific Ocean. Palm is a fresh green, paying homage to the iconic palm trees that define the Los Angeles landscape. Salt is a crisp white, capturing the essence of the Pacific Ocean's salt-filled air and the crystalline residue it leaves behind. Sand is a natural white, designed to evoke the feeling of sandy beaches and the natural wood and textured linens often seen in Malibu's coastal homes. Stoke is an effortless grey, grounding any space while referencing city streets and cloudy days. Tar is an off-black shade, inspired by the sunbaked desert highways of California. During the development process, Kelly Wearstler worked with Charlotte Cosby, Head of Creative at Farrow & Ball, at the factory in Dorset. This involved conceptualizing the collection, reviewing inspiration decks, and creating samples and swatches of the working colors. Farrow & Ball maintains a commitment to sustainability, ensuring that each shade in The California Collection is eco-friendly, low-VOC (volatile organic compound), water-based, and packaged in a recyclable can. The manufacturing process includes meticulous steps such as mixing colors in containers, dispensing paint into recyclable tins, and creating brush out boards to test color quality and durability. Wearstler also curated "vibe trays" for each color, compiling various textures and materials to complement and inform the essence of each paint shade, providing a tangible reference for the moods and environments each color is intended to evoke. #KellyWearstler #FarrowAndBall #CaliforniaCollection #PaintPalette #InteriorDesign #ColorInspiration #SustainableDesign #HomeDecor #KellyWearstler #FarrowAndBall #CaliforniaCollection #PaintPalette #InteriorDesign #ColorInspiration #SustainableDesign #HomeDecor
