These 3 Paint Colors Can Add Up to $2,500 to Your Home's Sale Price, a New Report Says

A recent Zillow report highlights the significant impact of paint color choices on home resale value, revealing which shades can attract higher offers and which can deter potential buyers. The study surveyed over 4,200 homebuyers across the United States to identify preferences for specific room colors, with findings indicating a shift away from muted neutrals towards richer, cozier hues. For kitchens, olive green emerged as a top choice, with buyers willing to pay nearly $1,600 more for homes featuring this color. The report emphasizes muted green kitchens are favored over all other options. However, it cautions that not all greens are equally appealing, specifically noting that sage green kitchens might discourage some homebuyers. This suggests a nuanced preference within the green spectrum, favoring deeper, more sophisticated tones. Bedroom color preferences strongly lean towards navy blue. This restful shade is associated with an increase of $1,815 in a home’s sale price. The report confirms that navy blue bedrooms are the most preferred color for this space, aligning with the trend towards richer color palettes. Surprisingly, gray living rooms, particularly charcoal gray, remain popular despite the common perception that "millennial gray" is outdated. Homes with charcoal gray living rooms could sell for $2,593 more. This darker gray also performed well when used in kitchens and bedrooms, indicating its versatility and broad appeal among homebuyers. Conversely, certain paint colors were identified as significant financial deterrents. Daisy yellow kitchens and living rooms could reduce a home's selling price by almost $4,000, advising sellers to reconsider incorporating this potentially vibrant yet off-putting shade. Fire hydrant red in living rooms or bedrooms was also flagged as a major turn-off, potentially costing sellers up to $2,000. These findings underscore the importance of strategic paint choices when preparing a home for sale, suggesting that while personal taste dictates color choices during occupancy, a repaint might be a valuable investment before entering the market. #homeSelling #paintColors #resaleValue #homeTrends #interiorDesign #realEstate #homeImprovement #kitchenDesign #bedroomDecor #homeSelling #paintColors #resaleValue #homeTrends #interiorDesign #realEstate #homeImprovement #kitchenDesign #bedroomDecor
