The Count’s Room
Arnaud's Restaurant, a New Orleans institution since 1918, has recently completed a renovation of one of its prominent event spaces, The Count's Room. The restaurant, founded by Arnaud Cazenave, has historically focused on delivering quality Creole cuisine and an unforgettable dining experience. This commitment extends to its private event services, which accommodate groups ranging from 12 to 220 guests across 16 distinct dining spaces. The Count's Room, one of the larger venues, had not undergone significant updates since 1978, at which time it featured a low ceiling and a pale green color palette.
The recent renovation has transformed The Count's Room into a modern space with art deco influences, designed to complement the Jazz Age era in which the restaurant was established. The interior now showcases crisp white walls and columns, contrasted with dramatic black doors and subtle etched glass accents. A significant structural change involved replacing the previous drop ceiling with a more elegant coffered style. The design incorporates luxurious touches such as gold leaf detailing on the classic black doors, decorative walls, and column capitals, enhancing the room's sophisticated aesthetic. Original paintings by artist Judy Merrell are integrated into the decor, contributing to the narrative and ambiance of the refreshed space.
The newly renovated Count's Room is versatile, capable of hosting 200 to 220 guests for a seated dinner or 180 to 200 guests for a cocktail-style event, depending on the arrangement of food and bar stations. Its capacity and updated design make it suitable for a variety of events, including weddings. The room can also be combined with other private dining spaces within Arnaud's Restaurant to accommodate larger or more complex events, ensuring flexibility for event planners. This renovation aligns with a broader trend of modern and Art Deco-inspired event spaces emerging across New Orleans, positioning The Count's Room as a contemporary option for private gatherings while retaining a connection to the city's historical charm.
