Captivated by the vibrant community, beachfront access, and unique atmosphere, he set a personal goal to own a property there. When a real estate agent friend presented a pocket listing that needed significant work but was within his budget, he seized the opportunity. Meyer embraced the project, noting the house's good 'bones' and high ceilings, and later realized it was next door to the very house he had rented during his initial, transformative visit to Fire Island. The renovation began in March of the previous year, a time when the COVID-19 pandemic had postponed many of his event planning projects, providing him with ample time to dedicate to his new home. He undertook much of the demolition work himself, including the arduous task of removing old furniture and several layers of flooring, channeling his frustration into the physical labor. Meyer approached the renovation with a clear vision: to create a space that reflected his personal style and brought him joy, departing from the typical client-driven design process he followed in his professional life. His design philosophy for the Fire Island home centered around a bright and joyful aesthetic, starting with eye-catching tiles that served as a foundation for his colorful palette. Every room in the house was transformed. The kitchen was opened up and fitted with IKEA cabinets, though he later regretted not installing a range hood. Bathrooms received new tiles and fixtures, contributing to the overall vibrant theme. Even a bedroom, originally lined in dark wood, was repainted in bold pink and orange, inspired by Dunkin' colors. The living room features yellow as a dominant color on ceiling beams and the fireplace, complemented by three pendant lights from a Tom Dixon sample sale and West Elm furniture. The adjacent dining room hosts a white Tulip table and vintage Cesca chairs that Meyer found on the boardwalk. A significant custom element is the set of 16 hand-painted chiffon curtains by his friend Josana Blue. Each panel was hand-dyed on the back patio, with tents set up to protect them from rain, making each piece unique and imbued with the story of its creation. Another unique feature is the botanical bunk bed room, designed by artist Sophie Parker of Wife NYC. Meyer commissioned Parker to paint a custom mural, providing only a color palette and allowing her artistic freedom. Parker spent several weekends at the house, covering the walls, beds, ladder, and even the undersides of the bunk beds with foliage motifs inspired by Meyer’s backyard. Meyer still plans further enhancements, such as painting the exterior a silver color and potentially naming the house "Silver Linings." From these prints emerged the concept for "The Aquanaut's Amulet," a diver's helmet pendant, with each jewelry piece serving as a wearable extension of the original drawings. The collection also includes smaller, collaborative 4x6-inch oil paintings on yupo, depicting women in green suits, symbolizing love and support among women amidst an allegorical catastrophe. The green suits, inspired by Jessica's fashion industry background, represent rebirth, and the futuristic material protects the figures from environmental elements. Eliana highlights their intention to present a collection that showcases the full range of Jessica’s creative abilities and storytelling, ensuring that no medium or audience is excluded. Jessica Hargreaves, the founder, was born and raised in South London and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Fashion and Textile Design from Central Saint Martins, along with an MFA from The School of The Art Institute of Chicago. Her art practice consistently features narrative elements that allegorize personal and political emotions. Her love for fashion and adornment influences her installations, which initially appear decorative but reveal humorous, satirical, or disturbing elements. Inspired by vintage animal jewelry, she began wax carving in 2014, leading to jewelry that maintains a direct link to her painting, drawing, and sculpture. Eliana Shoffner, co-founder and Studio Manager, moved from Texas to New York City in 2019, pursuing a career in fashion. She earned a Master’s Degree in Fashion Studies from Parsons School of Design, where her research focused on the art of adornment and challenging the established art and fashion institutions. The genesis of JHi was serendipitous, as Jessica and Eliana met at Sephora in August 2023. Eliana was captivated by a ring Jessica had made, leading to a conversation about art, fashion, and their shared vision for a practice where both could coexist. After a month of planning, J.
