$10,000 Luxury Suite on Royal Caribbean's New Utopia of the Seas Cruise Ship: Review
This article details a personal experience staying in a Crown Loft Suite on Royal Caribbean's new Utopia of the Seas during its inaugural sailing. The author, traveling with family, sought a cabin with ample space and a second full bathroom, along with the opportunity to evaluate the suite amenities on a new ship. The Crown Loft Suite is a two-level accommodation that provides mid-tier suite benefits, including access to a private lounge, reserved show seating, and concierge services.
While suites on Royal Caribbean ships are considerably more expensive than standard balcony rooms, especially on a new vessel like Utopia of the Seas, the author justifies the cost by highlighting the extensive space and numerous perks. The Crown Loft Suite, measuring 670 square feet, is nearly four times larger than a typical oceanview balcony cabin and includes an additional bathroom. It also features a generous 105-square-foot balcony, equipped with lounge chairs, ottomans, and a small table, making it suitable for dining or gathering with friends.
Unlike the often-cramped standard cruise cabins, the suite offers a spacious living area on the lower level, complete with a couch that converts into a bed for additional guests, a large television, chairs, and a dining table for four. A wet bar with a complimentary coffee machine and a welcome bottle of champagne is also provided. The upper level houses the master bedroom, which overlooks the lower level and can be privatized with a curtain. A TV descends from the ceiling above the king-sized bed. The master bathroom is notably large, featuring both a shower and a tub, though it has a single mirror and sink. A key feature for the author's family is the second full bathroom located on the lower level, offering convenience for occupants of that level or guests.
Storage space is abundant, with a large closet in the master bedroom, a safe, and a vanity. The suite also boasts numerous USB outlets and allows for control of room features like the television, curtains, and air conditioning via the Royal Caribbean app. The suite experience is further enhanced by Sky Class benefits, which include concierge service, all-day access to Coastal Kitchen, complimentary bottled water, free internet for all suite occupants, flexible boarding and priority departure, priority dining reservations, early access to entertainment venue seating, access to a dedicated Suite Lounge with evening hors d'oeuvres and cocktails, and access to the Suite Sun Deck. Other amenities include plush bathrobes, a luxury pillow-top mattress, luxury bathroom products, and a Lavazza Espresso Coffee Machine.
The Suite Sun Deck on Utopia of the Seas is particularly highlighted for its amenities, including a bar, seating in both sun and shade, and a pool, remaining uncrowded. The concierge service is invaluable for pre-cruise bookings and addressing billing concerns. The complimentary internet package saves a significant amount for families. The author concludes that while the Crown Loft Suite is expensive, the combination of a second full bathroom and the comprehensive Sky Class benefits made it a worthwhile choice for a family seeking upgraded amenities and space on a new ship, especially for the inaugural voyage where lower prices were not expected.
