What It’s Like to Stay at Bungalows Key Largo, the Luxe, All-Inclusive Hotel That’s Gloriously Free of Children
Bungalows Key Largo, an adults-only, all-inclusive resort in the Florida Keys, reopened in 2019 after a fire, establishing itself as a tropical paradise for those seeking a child-free getaway. Located approximately an hour from Miami airport, the 12-acre property combines a relaxed Caribbean atmosphere with the conveniences of an all-inclusive experience. This includes unlimited food and drinks, a variety of non-motorized watersports, and nightly entertainment. Guests can also arrange off-site excursions like a BYOB tiki cruise or a sunset catamaran sail.
The resort prioritizes relaxation and wellness. Its Zen Garden spa offers massages, a steam room, and a Himalayan salt room. Daily sunrise yoga sessions are held on the beach. Accommodations consist of 135 individual 900-square-foot bungalows, available in garden and oceanfront configurations. Oceanfront bungalows offer superior views and closer proximity to the water. Each bungalow features a private veranda with an outdoor soaking tub, a shower, a seating area, and two cruiser bikes for navigating the property. Although there are no private butlers, a virtual concierge is available via text for requests such as housekeeping, dining reservations, and activity bookings. Golf cart service is also provided 24/7.
Key amenities and services are evaluated through a 10-point system. While guests are greeted upon arrival, it is not by name, and a welcome rum punch is offered. Bed linens have a 300 thread count, and the beds are comfortable. The bathrooms do not include heated floors or bidets, which are deemed unnecessary in Florida's climate. Full-sized Lather brand toiletries are provided. The resort does not offer private pools for individual bungalows, but it features two communal swimming pools, with the Zen pool offering a more secluded experience near the spa.
The dining experience at Bungalows Key Largo includes three sit-down restaurants. Bogie & Bacall’s, a chophouse-style eatery, is highlighted for its fine cuts of steak and fresh local seafood. Menu options include Wagyu beef carpaccio, bacon-wrapped scallops, lobster bisque, a 16 oz ribeye, chateaubriand for two, and sides like white truffle mac and cheese. Guests staying four nights or longer receive one complimentary reservation at Bogie & Bacall’s, otherwise, it costs $300 per couple. Room service is available, offering items from charcuterie boards to New York strip steak and Key Lime Pie, though caviar is not on the menu. The Hemingway Bar, decorated with yellow Art Deco tiles reminiscent of Ernest Hemingway's Key West home, is recommended for pre- or post-dinner drinks. The overall verdict is positive, praising the resort as an ideal, kid-free escape for East Coasters, offering a renewing vacation experience. Rates range from $399 to $1,099 per person, per night, depending on the season, earning the resort an overall score of 8 out of 10.
