I’ve been using this standing desk for months and it sets a new standard for the price — here’s why
The Hinomi S1 is an electric, dual-motor standing desk that distinguishes itself through a premium aesthetic, simple assembly, and notably quiet operation, all at a mid-range price point. Its design incorporates rounded edges on the desktop and round, three-stage legs, contributing to a more sophisticated look compared to many competitors. The assembly process is straightforward, with parts arriving in two boxes and pre-drilled holes in the desktop, making it comparable to the ease of building a Vari Electric Standing Desk.
Key specifications include desktop sizes ranging from 39x24 inches to 63x27.5 inches, various desktop styles (black, gray, wood grain), and leg colors (black, gray, white). The desk offers a height adjustment range from 25.2 to 50.4 inches, supports up to 264.55 pounds (120 kg), and operates with dual motors at a whisper-quiet noise level of 47 dB. It also features four memory presets for preferred heights and comes with a warranty of up to 12 years.
One of the desk's most impressive features is its quiet operation. During testing, it registered 47 decibels, significantly quieter than many other standing desks on the market, such as the Vari Curve Electric Desk (53 dB) and the Secretlab Magnus Pro (50 dB). This low noise level is particularly beneficial for shared office or home office environments, preventing distractions during height adjustments.
Despite its advantages, the Hinomi S1 has a couple of minor drawbacks. It does not include a cable management tray, nor does Hinomi offer one as an optional add-on. While the desk does have a recessed cutout for cables, users seeking more extensive cable organization may need to purchase a third-party tray and install it themselves. Another minor issue observed after several months of use is that the rounded legs can cause the desk's feet to rotate slightly out of alignment if the desk is frequently moved, such as when rearranging an office setup.
Overall, the Hinomi S1 is presented as an excellent debut from a company primarily known for office chairs. Its combination of premium design, ease of assembly, quiet performance, and flexible customization options (desktop size, color, and finish) without significant price increases makes it a strong contender in the standing desk market. The absence of a dedicated cable management solution and the slight foot misalignment issue are minor criticisms that do not detract substantially from the desk's overall quality and value.
