THE FLINTSTONES’ Bedrock Home Is This Year’s LEGO Ideas Set
The LEGO Ideas program has announced that the winning set for 2019 is based on the classic Hanna-Barbera animated series, The Flintstones. This new LEGO set recreates Fred Flintstone’s iconic home in Bedrock, offering fans an opportunity to build and interact with a beloved piece of animated history. The set includes detailed minifigures of Fred and Wilma Flintstone, as well as their close friends Barney and Betty Rubble. Additionally, the Flintstone family’s signature car is part of the set, designed for those memorable trips to the drive-in theater, reflecting the whimsical and prehistoric daily life depicted in the show.
The Flintstones’ home within the LEGO set is meticulously designed to offer a comprehensive play experience. Key features of the house include a removable roof, which allows for easy access and playability inside the structure. The front door is fully operational, and the interior boasts decorative elements such as curtains and curtain rails, a sofa, and a television set complete with an antenna, echoing the domestic setting of the cartoon. The kitchen area is equipped with a sink, a table, and a vintage phone, further enhancing the authenticity of the design. A fireplace adds to the cozy atmosphere, while a painting element on the wall provides a touch of artistry.
Further interior details include a coffee table adorned with a fruit bowl and various fruit elements, adding to the lived-in feel of the home. A buildable floor lamp with a lampshade is also included, contributing to the overall aesthetic. For fans of the show's leisure activities, the set incorporates a crate containing a bowling ball and three bowling pin elements, allowing users to recreate the Bedrock gang’s favorite pastime. The exterior of the home is set on a green garden baseplate, which features a buildable palm tree, two flower pots, flowers, and other plant elements, along with two milk bottle elements, completing the quintessential look of the Flintstones’ residence.
This extensive 748-element set will be available for purchase starting February 20 at shop.LEGO.com and in LEGO stores. The retail price for the set is $59.99, making it an accessible collectible for fans and LEGO enthusiasts. The original concept for this LEGO set was submitted to the LEGO Ideas program by Andrew Clark, known as AndrewClark2 on the platform, in February 2017. Following its selection, the idea was further developed and adapted into the official LEGO version by LEGO Designer Ricardo Silva. The detailed decorated elements and minifigures were created by Graphic Designer Crystal Marie Fontan.
This marks a significant achievement for Andrew Clark, as it is his second product idea to be transformed into an official LEGO Ideas set. His previous successful submission was the Doctor Who product idea, which became an official LEGO Ideas set in 2015. This accomplishment places Clark among a select group of only three LEGO Ideas members who have had more than one of their concepts officially produced. The release of The Flintstones’ Bedrock Home set exemplifies the LEGO Ideas program's commitment to bringing fan-generated concepts to life, celebrating iconic pop culture properties through creative and detailed building experiences.
