Year in review: 5 design-led bathroom products from 2024
The bathroom has evolved beyond a purely functional space, becoming an area for making a statement and extending its influence beyond traditional confines, even into bedrooms. Despite often being the smallest room, it presents significant design challenges but also opportunities to create relaxing, beautiful, and efficient environments. This article highlights five design-led bathroom products from 2024 that exemplify this trend, offering innovative solutions and aesthetic appeal.
First, Crosswater's 'Tambour' collection introduces a furniture unit that blends texture and color with practical design. It features a water-resistant, fluted backboard combined with smooth, rounded elements, offering a timeless yet distinctive look. The unit includes a handleless design for a minimalist aesthetic and soft-close, pull-to-open functionality for quiet operation. Available in Sage Green, Matt White, and Soft Clay, and in two sizes, Tambour provides versatile and stylish storage for modern bathrooms.
Next, Nôsa's 'Vermont' freestanding bath in Blossom Pink showcases the enduring popularity of pink in contemporary design. This blush pink finish adds a luxurious and individualized touch, enhancing the serene elegance of any bathroom and helping to create a personal sanctuary. Lauren Hudson, Content Creator for Nôsa, noted that this addition resonates with consumers seeking a modern, luxurious aesthetic that is both bold and timeless, bringing personality and indulgence to the space.
BAGNODESIGN's 'Nara' collection taps into the 'Japandi' trend, which merges Japanese and Scandinavian minimalist design principles to create tranquil bathroom environments. Inspired by the ancient city of Nara, Japan, known for its blend of tradition, nature, and spirituality, this comprehensive bathroom collection emphasizes elegance and serenity. It combines Japanese appreciation for nature and simplicity with Scandinavian practicality and comfort, resulting in a relaxing and beautiful scheme.
AXOR's 'Nature Shower' reinterprets the iconic AXOR Starck shower column for outdoor use, offering a luxurious open-air showering experience. Equipped with a hot water connection, PowderRain spray technology, and an optional hand-held shower, this all-in-one column supports a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor living. Its slim design allows it to integrate elegantly into various outdoor settings, including gardens, urban terraces, and yachts, reinforcing the brand's connection to nature through water.
Finally, House of Rohl's 'Taizu' freestanding bath, a collaboration with designer Steve Leung, draws inspiration from the fine porcelain designs of China's Song Dynasty. This opulent circular bath features gently sloping sides, a chamfered edge, and sculpted details at its base. With a 1500mm diameter, Taizu serves as a spa-style centerpiece suitable for the most luxurious bathrooms. It was notably featured in the House of Rohl WOW!house installation, where it was presented in a custom olive green matte finish, highlighting its potential as a theatrical focal point within a bathroom design. #BathroomDesign #ProductReview #InteriorDesign #LuxuryBathrooms #HomeDecor #DesignTrends #JapandiStyle
