New course means agents can make thousands from home staging
The Home Staging Association (HSA) has introduced a new accredited online course, 'Home Staging as a Marketing Tool for Real Estate Agents,' designed to educate estate agents on the financial advantages of professionally staged properties. This initiative follows the HSA's 2020 Home Staging Report, which indicated that 100% of survey respondents found home staging to be an effective marketing tool for properties listed for sale.
The course aims to equip property professionals with the knowledge to highlight the benefits of home staging to potential vendors and buyers. According to the HSA's report, home staging has a significant positive impact on property sales. It was found to increase property viewings by 71% and can potentially boost the sale price of a property by up to 10%. More than half of the estate agents surveyed reported a return on investment from staging, as the increase in sale price or speed of sale covered the staging costs.
Considering that some property styling services can start from £15,000, understanding the home staging sector and acquiring skills in property dressing can be highly advantageous for estate agents. The course modules are delivered by Paloma Harrington-Griffin, an ASP® accredited interior staging professional and the founder of HSA. These modules cover essential aspects such as the role of home staging within the property sale process, guidance on how to identify and engage professional stagers, and strategies for effectively communicating the benefits of these services to vendors.
Paloma Harrington-Griffin emphasizes that neglecting home staging means leaving potential profit on the table for estate agents. She states that staged properties not only receive higher offer values but also tend to sell more quickly, leading to increased earnings for agents and reduced advertising and administrative expenses. Harrington-Griffin asserts that utilizing staging services is fundamental for any professional serious about property sales, positioning it as an indispensable practice in the current market. The course offers a structured approach for agents to leverage home staging to their financial benefit and enhance their service offerings.
