Jennifer Garner's secret message to kids hidden in stained glass reading nook
Actress Jennifer Garner has offered a glimpse into her Los Angeles farmhouse, purchased in 2019 for an estimated $7.5 million. The property, situated in Brentwood Park, has been transformed into a rustic retreat with the assistance of architect and design duo Steve and Brooke Giannetti. The home showcases extensive exposed wood, high ceilings, and a lush garden. Garner, who shares three children—Violet (18), Fin (15), and Samuel (12)—with ex-husband Ben Affleck, expressed her delight with the abode, emphasizing its suitability for her family.
A particularly unique feature of the farmhouse is a cozy reading nook, designed for her children. This space is adorned with two striking stained glass windows. These windows depict a meadow scene, incorporating personal touches. At the base of the design, their dog, Birdie, is shown looking towards the sky, while three owls are perched on a large tree. Each owl symbolizes one of Garner's children, serving as a heartfelt tribute within the home.
The children’s enthusiasm for reading is evident, as the living room also functions as a library, featuring numerous shelves filled with books. Garner previously shared details of the stained glass on Instagram, thanking Reed Weston Bradley of Judson Studios for its creation and acknowledging the contributions of Velvet and Linen and Steve Giannetti to the comfort of the reading nook.
Garner's vision for the farmhouse, built from the ground up, was to establish a private sanctuary for her and her children. After an extensive search for an existing home that offered both privacy and comfort, she decided to build. She acquired the land in 2019, recognizing the need to construct a space that met her specific requirements for seclusion without being overly grand. The design draws heavily from Garner's childhood experiences in West Virginia, reflected in the abundant use of wood and the overall contemporary farmhouse aesthetic.
Key areas of the home, such as the kitchen, despite its large size, maintain a personal and inviting atmosphere. It features exposed wooden beams, a large central island with wooden accents, and wooden flooring. The color palette throughout the home is predominantly neutral, with occasional bright accents. The kitchen includes neutral-toned leather seating and stone-colored cabinets. The living area further incorporates exposed brick around a fireplace and ample seating, designed for hosting guests.
