Wilsonart adds neutral tones and textures to its Solicor Laminate surfaces

Wilsonart has expanded its Solicor Laminate collection by introducing three new core hues and fifteen patterned surface-top designs. The new core colors—khaki, grey, and almond—serve as the foundation for the expanded range, catering to a demand for versatile and durable materials in modern design. The surfaces are available in five distinct colors, offering a wide palette for designers and consumers. The patterned designs encompass a variety of aesthetic options, including solid block colors, realistic woodgrain finishes, elegant linen textures, classic marble patterns, and sophisticated soapstone replications. These diverse patterns aim to provide solutions for a broad spectrum of interior design applications. To further enhance customization and visual appeal, the new Solicor Laminate designs are finished with one of four different textural options: a smooth matt, a reflective gloss, a tactile woodgrain, or a luxurious velvet. These textures not only contribute to the aesthetic richness of the surfaces but also provide a distinct haptic experience, mimicking natural materials. A key feature carried over from earlier Solicor designs is the solid-core construction, where the colors and textures extend uniformly throughout the laminate layers. This innovative manufacturing process eliminates the traditional 'brown line' often visible at the edges and corners of standard laminates, creating a seamless and integrated appearance that is particularly advantageous for applications requiring clean lines and a polished look. Garret Quarles, Wilsonart's specialty products manager, highlighted that these new Solicor additions address a gap in the market. He noted that designers seek durable, versatile, and sustainable materials that do not compromise on style. By removing the visually disruptive brown line and offering contemporary, on-trend designs, Solicor Laminate broadens the possibilities for its use in various settings. The laminates are produced in multiple thicknesses and sizes, ensuring their suitability for a diverse array of applications, both residential and commercial. Specific applications targeted by the Solicor Laminate include desks, countertops, backsplashes, cabinetry, and cabinet doors. Its durability and aesthetic flexibility also make it suitable for retail merchandising displays, where both visual appeal and resilience are crucial. In addition to the standard Solicor Laminate, the fifteen new designs are also available in Solicor Compact Laminate. This variant is a thicker, self-supporting laminate that does not require a substrate, making it ideal for robust applications such as high-traffic countertops, durable furniture, permanent fixtures, and structural elements like partitions, lockers, and wall panels. This compact version offers enhanced structural integrity and resistance, making it suitable for demanding environments. Wilsonart, established in 1956, is a manufacturer and distributor of engineered surfaces, including solid surfaces, quartz, and various specialty laminates. The new Solicor Laminate designs were officially launched at the NeoCon fair in Chicago, an annual event for commercial interior design. During the same event, held from June 12 to 14, Wilsonart also unveiled six new solid-surface designs as part of its 'Timeless Luxury' collection, further expanding its product portfolio with options emphasizing sophistication and enduring appeal.
