New Ethan Allen Collection Goes Mid-Century Modern
Ethan Allen has introduced its new 33-piece furniture collection, Lucy, drawing inspiration from mid-century modern aesthetics. Launched in July, the collection features classic sofas with velvet upholstery and jewel tones, many incorporating traditional upholstered buttons or channel tufting on seat backs. Beyond these classic elements, Lucy also embraces the more eclectic aspects of mid-century style through its selection of print fabrics for ottomans and throw pillows.
The collection's design philosophy, as described in Ethan Allen's lookbook, emphasizes versatility, comfort, and timeless style, attributing its innovative and creative persona to Lucy, the youngest member of the Allen family, who is grounded in neoclassicism. This blend of classic and quirky is evident in the diverse fabric options available.
Among the 52 fabric choices, customers can select from whimsical prints such as a Wonderland-themed collage featuring peacocks, rabbits, butterflies, striped dogs, and flowers, offered in blush or indigo colorways. For those preferring a more abstract pattern, the marbled Ebru Cobalt fabric is available. A distinctly retro option is the Kumasi Rainforest fabric, characterized by its rounded rhombus tessellations.
The collection also offers bold accent pieces, such as the Floren Navy fabric, which creates a significant visual impact when applied to items like the Keynen ottoman. For a touch of vibrant color, the Lyon Citron fabric is an option for items like the Peder Bolster pillow. While printed fabrics add a unique flair, the collection also caters to those who prefer solid colors, providing rich options in hues like rusts, grays, and olive greens. The Lucy collection thus offers a comprehensive range of choices, blending traditional mid-century modern elements with contemporary patterns and colors.
