Thesis Project: RAW Holistic Healing Center

The RAW holistic healing center is a design project inspired by the life cycle, aiming to create a space that encourages personal growth and renewal through the harmonization of mind, body, and spirit. The facility is designed to attract individuals seeking to improve their overall well-being, fostering optimism and reflection. The aesthetic of the space is envisioned to resemble a forest after rain, characterized by exposure, refreshment, and vibrancy. The project is located in Detroit, MI, within the annex of the historic Letts Industries Building, which was originally designed by Albert Kahn in 1916. The redevelopment plan is divided into two phases. Phase I focuses on the renovation of the existing building, transforming the interior to support the holistic healing concept. Phase II involves the conversion of the exterior into a user-friendly greenway, extending the healing environment beyond the building's confines. The design addresses contemporary health challenges, acknowledging the rising healthcare costs and the increasing consideration of non-traditional alternatives. The project posits that current community designs, building structures, and lifestyles contribute to modern health issues. Traditional approaches to well-being often compartmentalize physical and mental health, neglecting their interconnectedness. The RAW center aims to bridge this gap by offering a holistic approach. The core philosophy of RAW distinguishes healing from curing. Healing is defined as a process of achieving harmony among the mind, body, and spirit, allowing individuals to live peacefully within themselves and their surroundings. This perspective suggests that healing can occur even in the absence of a cure. The center is conceived as a sanctuary where individuals can discover inner peace, offering diverse spaces engineered to stimulate different cognitive and physical functions. The goal is to instill a sense of wholeness, positivity, and revitalization in its users. The project's comprehensive approach, from conceptual inspiration to practical application in an urban setting, reflects a forward-thinking perspective on wellness architecture and interior design. #HolisticHealing #InteriorDesign #WellnessArchitecture #DetroitRedevelopment #SustainableDesign #UrbanRenewal #MindBodySpirit #StudentProject #HealthcareDesign #HolisticHealing #InteriorDesign #WellnessArchitecture #DetroitRedevelopment #SustainableDesign #UrbanRenewal #MindBodySpirit #StudentProject #HealthcareDesign
