These easy-to-install cord covers help me hide all my TV's pesky cables
Home entertainment systems often lead to a cluttered appearance due to numerous cables from TVs and speakers. This issue can transform a living room into a tangle of unsightly cords, posing both an aesthetic problem and a tripping hazard. To address this, the author opted for affordable and simple cord covers, available on Amazon, to manage and conceal these wires.
Two types of cord covers were chosen for a home theater setup: a 36-inch ZhiYo cable raceway for wall-mounted TV wires and a 6-foot D-Line floor cover for speaker wires. The ZhiYo raceway, priced at approximately $15, comes in four 9-inch pieces, allowing for adjustable length. Its installation is tool-free, utilizing built-in adhesive. The author used two pieces on each side of the TV to manage HDMI and power cables. The beige color option blended well with the wall, though it is paintable. A convenient snap-on feature allows access to wires without removing the cover from the wall. However, the adhesive proved to be less robust, as a pet managed to dislodge it, suggesting that stronger tape or screws might be necessary for more secure mounting.
For speaker wires running across the living room floor to rear surround speakers, the D-Line floor cover, also around $16, was selected. The author needed two of these 6-foot covers to accommodate four thick cables, placing two cables in each. While D-Line claims its covers have a non-slip base, the author recommended using additional double-sided tape for enhanced stability. These floor covers extend from under the TV stand to the living room rug, with the remaining wire portions concealed beneath the rug. The gray color option, while not perfectly matching the floor, offered a tidy and secure alternative to exposed wiring.
Despite minor issues with the adhesive strength of the ZhiYo wall cover and the recommended use of extra tape for the D-Line floor cover, these products effectively addressed the problem of cable management. They offer an easy and affordable solution for hiding and organizing HDMI and speaker cables, contributing to a cleaner and safer living environment. The ZhiYo 36-inch cable raceway is available on Amazon, with prices varying by color, and the D-Line 6-foot floor cord cover is also available in multiple colors. The overall satisfaction with these purchases underscores their value in enhancing home aesthetics and safety by neatly concealing technological clutter.
