The 3 Best LED Light Bulbs of 2025 | Reviews by Wirecutter

Energy-efficient LED light bulbs have become the standard for basic home lighting, offering significant energy savings and longer lifespans compared to traditional incandescents. However, not all LED bulbs are created equal; some can cause issues like flickering, buzzing, or poor color rendering. This article identifies the best LED light bulbs based on extensive testing, focusing on factors such as brightness (lumens), bulb and base shapes (A19 with E26 base for standard lamps), color temperature (soft white around 2,700 K and daylight around 5,000 K), color rendering index (CRI of 90+ for accurate colors), dimmability, price, and warranty. Our top recommendation is the Feit Electric Enhance 60W Replacement A19 Dimmable LED Light Bulbs, available in both soft white (2,700 K) and daylight (5,000 K). These bulbs excel in color accuracy, making objects appear natural and vibrant, and provide an impressive dimming range without buzzing, flickering, or sudden jumps in brightness. Feit Electric’s commitment to quality is evident in their design process, which prioritizes a smooth dimming arc, and their production line testing. These bulbs are affordable, typically costing around $3.25 each in a four-pack, and come with a five-year warranty, which is longer than many competitors. They are also highly efficient, using less than 9 watts of energy, and meet Energy Star ratings and California's Title 20 regulations. Feit Electric offers these bulbs in various brightness levels (40-watt to 100-watt equivalents) and a bright white (3,000 K) option, as well as Edison-style filament bulbs. For those who prefer the nostalgic warmth of dimmed incandescent bulbs, the Philips Ultra Definition 60W Replacement A19 Dimmable LED Light Bulb with Warm Glow Effect Soft White is an excellent alternative. These bulbs are specifically designed to mimic the analog radiance of older glass bulbs by casting more red light waves as they dim, creating a warm, candle-like ambiance without the need for smart home connectivity. While slightly pricier at about $3.50 per bulb, they are significantly more affordable than smart bulbs offering similar effects. They also feature a smooth dimming arc, Energy Star certification, and a high CRI of 90. Philips offers a three-year warranty on these bulbs, which, while shorter than Feit's, is still superior to many budget options. Various other brands and specialty bulbs were also considered. Philips's standard 60W Replacement A19 Dimmable LED Bulbs Daylight offered good performance but lacked unique features. GE’s Refresh HD Daylight and Relax HD Soft White bulbs, despite boasting enhanced color, showed inconsistencies in dimming. EcoSmart bulbs were cheaper but displayed washed-out colors and poor dimming. Amazon Basics and other GE bulbs were dismissed due to low CRI scores and non-compliance with efficiency standards. Specialty bulbs, including color-changing, speaker-integrated, circadian rhythm, and air-purifying options, did not offer significant advantages or suffered from performance issues. Overall, the Feit Electric and Philips Warm Glow bulbs stand out for their superior performance, value, and reliability in providing high-quality home lighting.
