Parental Shed / Vector Plinth
The Cantonment area in Chattogram is characterized by its serene environment and abundant greenery, specifically around the institutional grounds of Chattogram Cantonment Public College. This educational institution, situated in DOHS, was established in 1978 under the administration of the Bangladesh Army. In 2020, Vector Plinth completed the 'Parental Shed' project, covering an area of 102 m². The project aimed to create a distinctive and functional space within this established educational setting.
The architectural design for the Parental Shed was spearheaded by Muhammad Jabed Iqbal Rupam, Mohammad Faisal Sabri, and Akramul Hossien Bappy from Vector Plinth. The construction was carried out by IBeam Construction Limited. Key engineering aspects, including structural design and plumbing, were handled by Md. Asif Iqbal and Pratim Bhuiyan, respectively. Akramul Hossien Bappy also served as the Project Co-ordinator, with Vikram Aditya Tonmoy and Ariful Islam acting as site supervisors. The landscape and lighting design, integral to the project's aesthetic and environmental integration, were also managed by Vector Plinth. Mouna Noor Al-Fatimy was responsible for the project's documentation and illustration.
The project utilized materials from various manufacturers to achieve its design and structural integrity. BSRM, Fresh Cement, Ruby Cement, Mirpur Ceramics, and KAI Aluminum were among the suppliers. The choice of these materials likely contributed to the building's durability and visual characteristics, aligning with the architectural vision. The Parental Shed is located in Chittagong, Bangladesh, and represents a contemporary addition to the educational infrastructure in the region. The Parental Shed project is highlighted for its integration within the natural landscape of the cantonment area.
