NYC Bachelor Pad Features Coffee Bar and India Inspired Interior Design

This article highlights the transformation of an 1,800-square-foot one-bedroom apartment in Union Square, Manhattan, into a personalized bachelor pad. The design, executed by Peti Lau Inc., integrates the owner's love for travel, vintage items, and coffee, drawing inspiration from his Bangalore, India, background and his global explorations. The primary challenge faced by the designers was to imbue warmth into the open-plan space with its high ceilings, which they addressed by strategically utilizing the owner's extensive collection of textured rugs. These rugs not only added a layer of personal history and comfort but also served to define distinct functional zones within the expansive layout. The living room, functioning as the central hub, features a striking ornate rug juxtaposed with modern elements like a sleek leather couch and entertainment center. Above the entertainment area, a charming and functional cozy nook with built-in hardwood shelves and ambient lighting provides a unique architectural detail, inviting a sense of intimacy despite its compact size. Adjacent to the main living space is a dedicated meditation and yoga alcove, designed for relaxation and spiritual practice. This serene corner is accentuated by an organic material swing and houses the homeowner’s collection of Hindu deity statues, further reflecting his cultural heritage and personal interests. The kitchen and dining area showcase a thoughtful blend of styles and textures, combining a wood slab table with an industrial base and a raw wood bench. The standout feature of this space is the bistro-style coffee bar, a direct homage to the owner's passion for coffee. This area is meticulously designed to replicate the ambiance of a high-end café, making it both a practical and aesthetically pleasing focal point for daily rituals. In the bedroom, the design team opted for a harmonious palette of rich neutral tones complemented by soft textures. The wall behind the bed is covered in an oatmeal-colored textile, providing a warm backdrop, while an ivory fur-like carpet adds a layer of luxurious comfort underfoot. Throughout the apartment, the designers excelled at weaving the owner's personal belongings and interests into the overall design narrative, creating a home that is not only visually appealing but also deeply reflective of his identity and experiences. The article emphasizes how Peti Lau Inc. successfully crafted a unique and personalized living environment that speaks to the owner's global adventures and passions. #BachelorPad #IndianDecor #UnionSquare #PetiLauInc #InteriorDesign #TravelInspired #ModernLiving #CoffeeBar #BachelorPad #IndianDecor #UnionSquare #PetiLauInc #InteriorDesign #TravelInspired #ModernLiving #CoffeeBar
