I work from home in my tiny NYC apartment, and the Branch Duo Standing Desk fits my space perfectly

The Branch Duo Standing Desk offers a practical solution for individuals seeking a functional standing desk for small living spaces. As a former skeptic of standing desks due to comfort preferences and limited apartment space, the reviewer decided to explore adjustable options, ultimately choosing Branch for its reputation in small-space solutions and ergonomic design. The desk proved easy to set up and use, with seamless height adjustments, contributing to increased comfort and productivity. The Branch Duo Standing Desk is designed with a sleek, modern aesthetic and offers customization options for both its base and tabletop. The legs are constructed from sturdy metal and are available in white, charcoal, or sage green. The tabletop comes in five styles, including solid colors and wood tones like woodgrain or walnut, all made from MDF. The reviewer selected a white base with a woodgrain top, appreciating its neutral appearance. The desk is available in three sizes: 36 x 24 inches, 48 x 24 inches, and 58 x 27 inches, with the smallest option fitting perfectly into a 500-square-foot New York City studio. Its minimalist design features wide frame legs and a discreet cable notch, with a small adjustment panel on the front left corner. Rounded edges on the desk surface enhance user safety. Optional accessories include a cable organizer, clamp-on power charger, and a felt-lined drawer that glides smoothly and quietly. Setting up the Duo Standing Desk involves two boxes—one for the tabletop and another for the legs and drawer. The desk, weighing approximately 65 pounds, was manageable to transport. While the assembly instructions were clear and the pre-drilled holes facilitated the process, securing the wiring with cable clips was the most challenging step, requiring two people for ease. The brand suggests assembly during a lunch break, but the process took about an hour and a half using an Allen wrench, which could be expedited with a power drill. Despite initial skepticism, the desk quickly demonstrated its benefits. The desk features a 19.3-inch range of motion, adjusting from 27.8 to 47 inches. Its control panel, which remains black when not in use, displays the exact height and allows for two preset sitting and standing heights. A customizable sedentary reminder, with an optional vibration, helps users transition between sitting and standing. The desk transitions smoothly, taking about eight seconds to raise 10 inches, with minimal risk of accidental movement due to the active button press. The motor produces a sound of about 50 decibels, comparable to a buzzing fan, which is not disruptive. Although the control panel initially required a learning curve due to its two-button design, its operation became seamless over time. The desk is suitable for users up to six-foot-one and supports up to 275 pounds, maintaining stability even at its tallest height. Its ability to be raised out of a dog's reach was also noted as a practical advantage. One significant drawback is the desk's limited storage, a common issue with standing desks, especially for individuals prioritizing organization in small apartments. The reviewer suggested a separate drawer unit for additional storage. While the initial setup of the control panel and wiring posed minor difficulties, these were overcome, leading to a smooth user experience. Despite its narrower tabletop compared to some alternatives, it offers ample workspace and is compatible with a monitor arm. Competitors include Branch's larger Standing Desk, the portable Ergotron Mobile Desk, and the more budget-friendly Flexispot E2 Pro Standing Desk, each offering different features, sizes, and price points. The Branch Duo Standing Desk, priced between $549 and $749, is recommended for its design, ease of setup, adjustment range, and suitability for small spaces, backed by a 10-year warranty, and is expected to enhance productivity.
