Frigidaire Gallery 30-Inch Electric Range review: Consistently cooks in style but at a premium price

The Frigidaire Gallery 30-Inch Electric Range, priced at $899, presents an attractive option for consumers seeking a stylish kitchen appliance. Its exterior boasts a stainless steel finish designed to resist fingerprints and grease, contributing to a premium aesthetic. The appliance features a compact oven with a hidden bake element and a five-burner range, including a quick-boil burner and a controllable warming zone. The cooktop is a smooth, glossy, deep black ceramic surface, equipped with four circular electric burners (two small, one large, and one combo small/medium) and a fifth medium-sized hot zone for keeping food warm, adjustable via a dedicated knob. Despite its appealing design and consistent temperature performance, a notable drawback of the Frigidaire Gallery range is the absence of a convection mode, which is typically found in ovens at this price point and offers superior roasting and baking capabilities. This omission makes the appliance a pricey choice when compared to competitors. For instance, the GE JB650SFSS, priced at $800, offers similar oven performance, design, and cooking features, and can be considered a more economical option. Alternatively, an additional $100 could be invested in a similarly equipped Frigidaire or GE range that includes convection technology, providing a significant upgrade in oven performance for a marginal increase in cost. The appliance's control panel, though featuring a relatively uncluttered flat touchscreen framed by aluminum and stainless steel, incorporates flimsy plastic burner knobs that feel loose. These controls are located on a rear panel, requiring users to reach over hot burners to adjust them. The oven's capacity is 5.5 cubic feet, which is smaller than some rivals, such as the LG LRE3021, which offers 6.3 cubic feet for the same price. However, it provides slightly more space than the GE JB650SFSS, which has 5.3 cubic feet. All three ovens mentioned come with self-cleaning modes as a standard feature. Performance tests revealed that the Frigidaire Gallery had an average boil time of just over 12 minutes for its small burner and approximately 13 minutes and 13 seconds for its large burners. The quick-boil burner brought 112 ounces of water to a boil in under 12 minutes on average. The oven maintained very consistent temperatures, delivering repeatable results for roasting various foods. However, in multi-rack bake tests, biscuits on the top rack were significantly darker than those on the lower rack, indicating unevenness inherent to standard ovens without convection. Broiling burgers was efficient, taking an average of 18 minutes and 11 seconds, but often resulted in drier patties compared to other models. The oven's preheating time to 450 degrees Fahrenheit was approximately 14 minutes, noticeably longer than some competitors, and it lacks a readout for current oven temperature. Cleaning the cooktop was straightforward due to its smooth, flat surface. In conclusion, while the Frigidaire Gallery 30-Inch Electric Range offers attractive styling, excellent cooktop performance, and stable oven temperatures for a mid-range electric oven, its premium price coupled with the lack of convection makes it less competitive. The GE JB650SFSS is presented as a smarter, less expensive alternative that matches the Frigidaire's style and burner count. For those prioritizing convection, investing a bit more for a convection-equipped model from GE or Frigidaire is recommended. #FrigidaireGallery #ElectricRange #KitchenAppliance #OvenReview #HomeAppliances #CookingTechnology #AppliancePerformance #KitchenDesign #ConsumerElectronics #FrigidaireGallery #ElectricRange #KitchenAppliance #OvenReview #HomeAppliances #CookingTechnology #AppliancePerformance #KitchenDesign #ConsumerElectronics
