Flipbin Brings Your Favorite Vinyl Records to the Front
The article introduces Flipbin, a newly launched vinyl record storage and display unit, currently seeking funding on Kickstarter. Designed to address the need for easily accessible and visually appealing storage for records that are frequently played or recently acquired, Flipbin stands out among numerous other record storage solutions. Manufactured in Chicago from bent aluminum, the unit features an angled design supported by a kickstand, which facilitates easy browsing of records and provides protective storage. This design also allows it to serve as an effective display, complementing existing vinyl collections by bringing favorite records to the forefront.
Unlike some smaller capacity record easels, the Flipbin Model 33 is designed to hold up to 33 12-inch records, while the Model 45 can accommodate 45 7-inch records. The unit is available in various powder-coated colors, including red, mint, white, and black, offering options for different aesthetic preferences. The founder, Ben Robertson, addressed concerns about branding visible in Kickstarter images, clarifying that these were promotional and used removable decals. The final products will be shipped unadorned, with a separate sticker for optional placement.
Robertson, a musician, artist, and IT company owner, conceived the idea for Flipbin from his personal need to organize his extensive record collection of approximately 1,500 albums. He typically uses two Model 33 units near his turntable: one for new additions or uncatalogued records and another for favorites or recently listened-to records he wishes to revisit. This practical approach reflects the product's core purpose: to keep active vinyl selections nearby, functionally accessible, and beautifully displayed. The article highlights that the best innovations often stem from such practical necessities.
The Kickstarter campaign for Flipbin is nearing its funding goal, with pledges available at $39 for the Model 45 and $59 for the powder-coated Model 33. An anodized version of the Model 33 is also offered for an additional $10. A significant advantage mentioned is the prompt shipping schedule, with products expected to be delivered next month, rather than a longer waiting period. This initiative provides a functional and aesthetically pleasing solution for vinyl enthusiasts to manage and showcase their active record collections.
