Eufy Security Solar Wall Light Cam S120 review: A bright solution

The Eufy Security Solar Wall Light Cam S120 offers a compact, all-in-one solution for outdoor home security, integrating a 2K security camera, a 300-lumen wall light, and a solar panel into a single device. Designed for DIY installation, this battery-powered unit aims to simplify the setup of outdoor surveillance and lighting without requiring extensive home modifications or a wired electrical connection. The article highlights the convenience of its built-in solar panel, which is designed to keep the camera’s 5,200mAh battery charged with at least two hours of direct sunlight daily, eliminating the need for frequent battery replacements or an external power source. The device is also assigned an IP65 weather rating, ensuring its durability against dust and water jets. Setting up the S120 involves an initial four-hour charge via a USB-C port, although the necessary cable and AC adapter are not included in the package. The Eufy Security app guides users through the Wi-Fi network connection and provides crucial advice on optimal placement to maximize sun exposure for the solar panel. It advises against mounting the camera under eaves or trees, recommending a wall with no overhang to ensure continuous charging. The app also performs an internet connection test to confirm Wi-Fi signal strength at the chosen location before installation. Once the ideal spot is identified, the camera is mounted using a bracket, secured with screws, and then locked into place. The Eufy Security app offers comprehensive controls for both the camera and the light panel. Camera functionalities include a live feed, manual video and still image capture, night vision activation (both infrared LED monochrome and full-color assisted by the light panel), a 105dB siren, and two-way talk. The light panel can be turned on/off, its brightness adjusted, and motion-activated lighting configured through the settings. The camera features a 120-degree diagonal field of view and delivers excellent 2K video quality, with both night vision modes providing clear and well-illuminated images even in complete darkness. To optimize battery life, especially since the S120 is battery-powered, users can enable human detection to filter out non-human motion, set activity zones to focus monitoring on specific areas, and adjust motion sensitivity. All video recordings are stored locally on 8GB of eMMC storage for two months, and clips can be downloaded or shared directly from the app. The S120 is priced at $99.99, positioning it as a competitive option against alternatives like the Blink Wired Floodlight Camera. While the Blink offers brighter floodlights and more local storage, it requires a wired connection and a separate module for local recording, or a cloud subscription. The Eufy S120, with its integrated solar power and comprehensive features, is presented as a valuable, low-cost DIY security and lighting solution. #EufySecurity #SolarWallLight #SmartHome #SecurityCamera #OutdoorLighting #DIYInstallation #HomeAutomation #TechReview #LocalStorage #EufySecurity #SolarWallLight #SmartHome #SecurityCamera #OutdoorLighting #DIYInstallation #HomeAutomation #TechReview #LocalStorage
