Studio Daniel Libeskind recently finished the 'Reflections at Keppel Bay' residential development, situated along Keppel Harbor in Singapore. The project features a complex of 1,129 units housed within six high-rise towers, ranging from 24 to 41 storeys, and eleven low-rise apartment blocks. The design emphasizes undulating forms and carefully positioned structures to create diverse and expansive views of the surrounding environment, including the waterfront, Sentosa, an adjacent golf course, and Mount Faber. This strategic placement ensures that residents experience unique vistas, enhancing the individuality of each unit within the complex. The architectural approach incorporates shifting floor plates, which contributes to a dynamic and non-uniform aesthetic. This design choice eliminates a conventional sense of alignment and provides varied perspectives from every level. This deliberate individualization means that even adjacent residences within the complex offer distinct experiences, promoting a sense of uniqueness for each home. The emphasis on individuality is a core aspect of the design philosophy, aiming to provide residents with a personalized living environment tailored to its specific orientation and views. A significant design element involves the placement of a garden atop each tower. These rooftop gardens are enclosed by an open structural frame that visually extends and elegantly concludes the building's form, integrating green spaces into the vertical architecture. Sky bridges connect the various buildings at different elevations, facilitating movement and creating communal pathways between the towers. These bridges not only enhance connectivity but also offer residents elevated vantage points to appreciate the surrounding landscape and marine environment. The exterior of the buildings is characterized by an aluminum facade, designed to reflect the dynamic interplay of daylight and the ocean. This material choice allows the complex to shimmer and change appearance throughout the day, responding to evolving light conditions and creating a visually striking presence along the waterfront. The project was completed in 2011, having been documented during its construction phase by designboom. Asia) Pte Ltd for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering, T.Y. LIN International for civil engineering, Hargreaves Associates + Sitetectonix for landscape architecture, and LPA for lighting design. Woh Hup served as the contractor, and R.A.
