After Cozying Up On My Joybird Couch for 6 Months, Here’s My Honest Review

The author provides a comprehensive review of the Joybird Holt Sectional after six months of use. The primary motivation for selecting this couch was its deep seat cushions, measuring 28 inches, which allow for comfortable lounging positions. The review highlights the importance of comfort in online couch purchases and positions the Joybird Holt Sectional as a strong contender for those prioritizing coziness, despite initial skepticism about buying furniture online. The sofa's minimalist design is noted for adding a luxurious and high-quality aesthetic to the living space. The article delves into the various aspects of the couch, beginning with the delivery and setup process. The author recounts a minor issue with shipping but praises Joybird's customer service for resolving it efficiently, ensuring the couch arrived within the estimated timeframe. The white glove delivery service, which included carrying and placing the sofa, is particularly commended for its convenience. Customization options are a significant feature discussed, with Joybird offering 76 fabric/color choices, filterable by various criteria such as sustainability and pet-friendliness. The ability to choose the chaise orientation (left or right) is also mentioned. The author selected the Merit Dove shade in chenille fabric and explains Joybird's tier system for materials, which categorizes fabrics based on basicness, durability, luxury, and stain resistance. Each material comes with a cleaning code and specific instructions to prevent damage. The review evaluates the couch's performance across several criteria: Value (16/20), Comfort (19/20), Quality (15/20), Aesthetics (19/20), and Ease of Delivery/Setup (20/20), culminating in an overall score of 89/100. The comfort aspect is highly praised, with the author noting the squishy yet firm seat cushions and well-shaped back cushions. The deep seats are ideal for taller individuals, allowing for relaxed lounging. However, a minor drawback is the lack of Velcro on the cushions, causing them to slide forward. Regarding durability, the Holt Sectional is described as sturdy, made with solid wood and fortified corners to prevent warping. While the chaise's easy separation from the main couch is a minor inconvenience, the fabric's ease of cleaning for spills and stains is a significant advantage, especially with a toddler in the home. The author successfully removed various stains, from pizza sauce to pen marks. A notable concern is the pilling on the outer edges of the cushions due to friction, although this was manageable with a fabric shaver. The review concludes with a summary of pros and cons. Positive aspects include comfortable cushions, a wide chaise, easy-to-clean fabric, and a sleek wood base. Negative points are the fabric pilling, the chaise separating easily, cushions sliding forward, and initial signs of sinking in highly used areas. Despite concerns about long-term durability, given the price point, the author expresses satisfaction with the couch's visual appeal and comfort, recommending it for these features. The article also mentions that Joybird frequently offers sales, making the expensive sofa more accessible. The author's personal experience underscores the balance between aesthetic appeal, comfort, and practical durability in a high-traffic household.
