A storage capacity that rivals full-size models recommends this counter-depth refrigerator
The LG LRFLC2706S French-door refrigerator, marketed as a "Smart Counter-depth Max" model, offers a significant interior storage capacity for a counter-depth unit. With a total of 16.5 cubic feet (11.54 cubic feet for the refrigerator and 5.04 cubic feet for the freezer), it surpasses the average storage of its counter-depth competitors by three cubic feet and even rivals some full-size refrigerators. This increased capacity is largely attributed to its internal water dispenser, which eliminates the need for a bulky dispenser in the fridge door, freeing up valuable space.
The refrigerator demonstrates strong performance in temperature consistency, maintaining stable temperatures in both its fridge and freezer compartments. While the initial factory setting for the refrigerator compartment averages 39°F, which is slightly higher than the ideal 37°F recommended by the FDA, this can be corrected by calibrating the temperature a few degrees lower. The Linear Cooling system contributes to this consistency, sensing and adjusting for temperature fluctuations. The freezer consistently holds temperatures around -0.14°F with minimal fluctuation, effectively preventing freezer burn.
Storage flexibility is another highlight, featuring six gallon-sized door bins, a full-width deli drawer capable of holding large platters or egg cartons, and a foldable spill-capture shelf for accommodating taller items. The LG LRFLC2706S is also a smart appliance, integrated with LG's ThinQ app. This app allows for remote control, provides usage notifications (including open door alerts), and offers troubleshooting and maintenance suggestions, potentially preventing costly repairs.
However, the appliance has a few minor drawbacks. As mentioned, the refrigerator's internal thermometer can be misleading, displaying 37°F when the actual average temperature is 39°F. This necessitates manual calibration. The crisper drawers, categorized as "just drawers" rather than "actual crispers," lack proper humidity control mechanisms, which may lead to fresh produce wilting faster. Additionally, the inset drawer in the freezer compartment does not stay in its fully extended or fully retracted position, requiring a slight adjustment to access items efficiently. Despite these minor issues, the LG LRFLC2706S is considered a value-packed option, especially given its spacious design and consistent performance. However, it faces stiff competition from models like the Frigidaire Gallery Quattro GRQC2255BF, which offers superior temperature performance and a four-door design for a similar price. LG provides a comprehensive warranty, covering parts and labor for one year, the sealed refrigeration system and compressor for five years, and the linear/inverter compressor for ten years, exceeding industry standards.
