Live from the Lawn at Strathmore’s Gazebo Stage
Strathmore’s free summer concert series, titled “Live from the Lawn,” is set to return in July, offering weekly outdoor performances designed for all ages. The series will feature an eclectic mix of family-friendly music on Wednesdays and interactive experiences specifically for children on Thursdays. The events are held at Strathmore’s The Gudelsky Gazebo Stage, located at The Music Center, 5301 Tuckerman Lane, North Bethesda, Maryland 20852.
The “Live from the Lawn” series kicks off on Wednesday, July 9, at 7:30 p.m. with a performance by “Yellow Dubmarine: A Reggae Tribute to The Beatles.” Following this, the “Cool Concerts for Kids” series will begin on Thursday, July 10, at 7 p.m. with “Divi Roxx Kids.” These concerts are designed to engage younger audiences with playful and interactive content.
Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs, and picnics to enjoy the outdoor setting. For those who prefer to purchase food on-site, Strathmore will have a BBQ tent available. All concerts are free and open to the public, although an RSVP is encouraged to receive updates and important information regarding the events. To help sustain the free nature of these beloved events, attendees have the option to make a “pay what you can” contribution or become a Strathmore member.
In the event of rain, the performances will be moved indoors. However, seating for indoor events will be limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. This contingency plan ensures that the concerts can proceed regardless of weather conditions.
The full lineup for the concert series includes a diverse range of artists and genres. Beyond the opening acts, Wednesday, July 16, will feature JigJam, followed by an Old-Time Music & Dance Party on Thursday, July 17. The Chopteeth Afrofunk Big Band is scheduled for Wednesday, July 23, and Lucy Kalantari & The Jazz Cats will perform on Thursday, July 24. Subsequent performances include Rainbow Girls on Wednesday, July 30, and Elida Almeida on Wednesday, August 6. The series will culminate with the UkeFest Finale on Wednesday, August 13, and a performance by the Juliet Lloyd Band on Wednesday, August 20. Further updates and the complete schedule can be found on strathmore.org and Strathmore’s Facebook page.
