Spring '22 Target Collection Styling Tips
As spring approaches, a common desire for many is to refresh their home's aesthetic, particularly focusing on living spaces. This involves brightening color palettes, introducing new items, and improving functionality. To demonstrate how to incorporate pieces from the Spring 22′ collection, a collaboration between Studio McGee and Target's Threshold line, a seating area was styled using a selection of key products.
The initial step in designing the space involved considering the room's layout to ensure optimal placement of furniture. The goal was to encourage conversation, comfort, and ease of movement. The chosen layout centered around a console table, which served as the focal point, with a round coffee table in the middle. A sofa anchored the seating arrangement, complemented by two chairs and a bench seat placed in parallel. This configuration helped to vary the shapes within the room, contributing to a more relaxed atmosphere.
The use of a bench in a living area is a strategic choice for providing additional seating without visually cluttering the space. Its backless design helps maintain an open and airy feel, which is particularly beneficial when there's a window with a desirable view or in an open-concept living area, as it avoids obstructing sightlines. The selected console table, characterized by its texture, was a versatile piece. In this specific seating arrangement, it was positioned under artwork, but it was noted that it could also function effectively under a television in a smaller space or as a welcoming anchor in a large entryway.
Attention to detail was crucial in bringing the room to life and infusing it with personality. This was achieved through the incorporation of varying heights and shapes, mixed textiles, and carefully chosen decor. The objective was to evoke a spring feeling through the use of playful patterns, textural accents, and a soft color palette. The pillows from the collection were designed to be easily combinable. The styling incorporated both warm and cool tones, utilizing blues, light dusty pinks, and warm terracotta shades. The mix of geometric and floral prints, along with variations in pattern scale, contributed to a curated and cohesive look.
Among the specific items featured in the styling were the Vivian Park Upholstered Sofa, an Adjustable Brass Accent Table, the Arbon Coffee Table White, the Palmdale Woven Door Console Natural, the Randolph Bench with Bolster Pillows Linen, and the Ventura Upholstered Accent Chair with Wood Frame. Decorative elements included the Rockland Hand Knotted Distressed Persian Style Rug, an Artificial Ficus Tree, a Spacedye Woven Square Throw Pillow in Clay, a Herringbone Pointelle Throw Blanket, Marble Links, a Woven Plaid Throw Pillow in Slate Blue/Cream, a Brass Magnifying Glass, a Linen Tray, a Wooden Mantel Decorative Wall Mirror Natural, a Large Ceramic Table Lamp in Gray, a Handled Vintage Vase, a Cream Vintage Vase, and a Scalloped Bowl. These items collectively demonstrate how to layer different elements to create a refreshed and inviting living space.
