Exteta Re-Releases the Colorful, Irreverent Pieces of Gae Aulenti's 1964 Locus Solus Collection

The Italian outdoor furniture brand Exteta has re-released the Locus Solus collection, originally designed by architect Gae Aulenti in 1964 for Poltronova. This collection represents Aulenti's initial venture into outdoor furniture design, despite her broader recognition as an architect, interior designer, and a contributor to theater sets and graphics. The re-release is made possible through a licensing agreement established between Exteta and the archive of the late architect. The Locus Solus collection is characterized by its colorful and unconventional aesthetic, reflecting a departure from traditional outdoor furniture design. The reissued line includes several distinct pieces: a dining table, a love seat, a chaise longue, an armchair, and an ottoman. Each item maintains the original design's irreverent spirit and vibrant palette. A key design feature of the collection is its use of tubular steel frames, which are available in five distinct colors: blue, green, yellow, orange, and white. These bold color choices contribute to the collection's playful and modern appeal. Complementing the frames are the handmade cushions, which are slipcovered in a durable and washable Sunbrella solution-dyed acrylic fabric. The fabric is printed with Aulenti's original target pattern, a design element that further emphasizes the collection's unique and artistic flair. The chaise longue, notable for its oversized wheels, highlights Aulenti's innovative approach to furniture, blending functionality with a distinctive visual style. The overall collection is designed to bring a sense of joy and artistic expression to outdoor spaces, embodying Aulenti's vision of integrating design into everyday life. This collaboration between Exteta and the Gae Aulenti archive ensures that the legacy of this iconic collection continues, making these mid-century designs accessible to a contemporary audience while preserving their original character and quality. #Exteta #GaeAulenti #LocusSolusCollection #OutdoorFurniture #MidCenturyDesign #FurnitureReRelease #Poltronova #SunbrellaFabric #ColorfulDesign #Exteta #GaeAulenti #LocusSolusCollection #OutdoorFurniture #MidCenturyDesign #FurnitureReRelease #Poltronova #SunbrellaFabric #ColorfulDesign
