This Once-Popular Bathroom Design Feature Is Gaining Momentum Again

Accent walls are making a significant comeback in bathroom design, offering a versatile opportunity for homeowners to experiment with color, pattern, and texture. A report from Houzz on 2019 renovation trends indicated that 35 percent of homeowners were incorporating accent walls into their bathrooms, highlighting a renewed interest in this design element. With a wide array of beautiful tile options, such as zellige and iridescent tiles, and innovative wallpaper collections available, renovators have numerous choices to personalize their spaces. Several examples illustrate effective ways to implement bathroom accent walls. One approach is the color-blocked design, exemplified by a bathroom from 2LG Studio. This design features a vibrant combination of bubblegum pink and royal blue, creating an artistic and energetic atmosphere. The key takeaway from this style is to consider using two statement walls rather than just one to maximize visual impact and create a bright, engaging environment. Another option is the luxe accent wall, demonstrated by Studio DB, which incorporates intricately patterned marble. While a full room of patterned marble might be cost-prohibitive, using it in a smaller area, such as a walk-in shower, can provide a luxurious touch. The stripes and half-moon shapes in the Studio DB design offer a striking contrast within an otherwise simple space. For such a design, a walk-in shower with clear glass doors is recommended to allow the accent feature to be fully visible. The painted-and-done approach offers a simpler yet equally impactful solution, as shown in Dabito's design. This method involves applying a coat of paint in a deep emerald color to the widest blank surface, complemented by matching tiles. This style is accessible for those less experienced in design. To enhance the effect, incorporating smaller accessories in the same shade as the accent wall can create a cohesive monochrome look, such as Dabito's use of potted plants to play up the green theme. Finally, the geometric accent wall provides an opportunity for more creative and hands-on renovation. Charlotte Fequet's design features staggered Yves Klein Blue tiles in the shower area, defining it as a distinct destination within an otherwise white room. This approach emphasizes selecting tiles with dimension, whether through textured finishes or unusual shapes, to make the accent wall even more eye-catching due to its glossiness. These diverse examples demonstrate the adaptability and aesthetic potential of bathroom accent walls. #BathroomDesign #AccentWall #HomeRenovation #InteriorDesignTrends #TileDesign #ColorBlocking #LuxuryBathroom #DIYDesign #GeometricTiles #BathroomDesign #AccentWall #HomeRenovation #InteriorDesignTrends #TileDesign #ColorBlocking #LuxuryBathroom #DIYDesign #GeometricTiles
