Wooden table by Ruben Beckers weighs just 4.5 kilograms

German designer Ruben Beckers has created a wooden table named "kleinergleich5," which translates to "less than five," referencing its remarkably light weight of 4.5 kilograms. This design was showcased at the [D3] Design Talents exhibition at imm cologne as part of the Wood*Transformation project at Kassel School of Art and Design. The table's primary innovation lies in its structural design, which allows it to be exceptionally lightweight while maintaining stability and functionality. The table's construction utilizes a grid of thin wooden strips made from poplar wood. These strips interlock at five-centimetre intervals, forming a rigid lattice structure that is only 28 millimeters deep.
