MUT design launches duplex, a small range of occasional tables for sancal

MUT design, in collaboration with the Spanish company Sancal, introduces its inaugural collection named 'duplex.' This collection comprises a series of occasional tables that draw inspiration from the organic and modernist architectural styles of Mies van der Rohe and Frank Lloyd Wright. The design emphasizes simplicity and functionality while also incorporating an interactive element, inviting users to engage playfully with the furniture. The core concept of the 'duplex' collection revolves around the architectural arrangement of the tables, allowing for elements to be superimposed. This is facilitated by a diverse range of heights available across the individual pieces. A consistent feature throughout the collection is the top tray, which is designed to be detachable. This detachability serves to double both the height and the functionality of the table. The removable tray can be utilized in various ways, such as a container, a laptop support, or a convenient surface for casual dining, like eating a sandwich while watching television. The tables possess a hybrid nature, positioning them as a distinctive product within the furniture market. MUT design actively encourages user participation in the design process, allowing individuals to customize the tables to suit their specific needs and preferences. This user-centric approach is evident in the optional nature of the top trays and the extensive selection of colors available through various dyes and lacquers. This customization fosters a sense of personal involvement, moving away from rigid design constraints and allowing for creative expression. The design team likens this freedom to childhood play, offering a "nice tribute to those of us who got fed up of being told off with that frustrating 'kids, don’t play on the table.'" The collection embodies a philosophy where the end-user has the ultimate say in how the furniture is combined and utilized. This flexibility in configuration and aesthetic choice ensures that each 'duplex' table can adapt to different living spaces and individual styles. The blend of architectural inspiration, functional versatility, and user interaction defines the 'duplex' collection as a notable contribution to contemporary furniture design, moving beyond mere aesthetics to offer an engaging and adaptable experience. #MUTDesign #Sancal #OccasionalTables #FurnitureDesign #ModernistArchitecture #FrankLloydWright #MiesVanDerRohe #ModularFurniture #InteriorDesign #MUTDesign #Sancal #OccasionalTables #FurnitureDesign #ModernistArchitecture #FrankLloydWright #MiesVanDerRohe #ModularFurniture #InteriorDesign
