The Teâshí Coffee Table Is Given New Life by Artist Callen Schaub
Edenic Design introduced its inaugural product, the Teâshí Coffee Table, a piece of furniture characterized by its unique branching structure. Limited to a production run of 100 units, the table's design draws inspiration from natural forms, resembling limbs, veins, or lightning bolts. Each table is meticulously hand-welded, ensuring that its distinct silhouette and the original creative vision are honored. The name 'Teâshí' itself is derived from the Japanese word for 'limb,' reinforcing the organic inspiration behind its aesthetic.
Beyond its structural novelty, the Teâshí Coffee Table was conceived with the intention of serving as a three-dimensional canvas for artistic collaboration. The first such collaboration features Montreal-based artist Callen Schaub. Schaub's expressive style is applied directly to the table's base, transforming the functional furniture into a piece of sculptural art. His technique results in vibrant, swirling colors that create an illusion of motion, as if the paint is still fluidly moving around the table's foundation.
An example of this artistic integration is the Callen Schaub Teashi 1 (CST1), which has been acquired by a private collector. This particular piece exemplifies the synergy between Edenic Design's unique furniture and Schaub's dynamic artistic contribution. Due to the success and distinctiveness of this initial collaboration, Edenic Design and Callen Schaub plan to continue offering made-to-order commissions, allowing clients to acquire personalized versions of these art-infused coffee tables.
In addition to the collaboration with Callen Schaub, Edenic Design has also partnered with Los Angeles-based artist Chris Trueman on another iteration, the Edenic x Chris Trueman 1 (CTT1). This project marked Trueman's first foray into painting on a three-dimensional surface. His approach involved a combination of gestural painting and spray painting, utilizing squeegees and brushes to achieve his desired effects. The result is a table with a dark, cosmic-like finish, characterized by deep blues and fluorescent orange accents, further demonstrating the Teâshí Coffee Table's versatility as a medium for artistic expression.
